Had what can be only described as a horrendous week "holiday" , so bad we left days early for another hotel due to rude, incompetent staff, awful food and fawlty towers style service which would be funny were it not so bad at our expensive . We booked to stay at what looks and is clearly misdescribed as a "luxury stay" with "fine dining", the hard truth a very different story . The first evening we arrived the food ordered at the Inn, two steaks came what basically can be described as "raw", when specifically ordering medium/well done. Staff took the first steaks away with excuses about the main chef not being on duty and the chef that night "not quite as good as the main guy". An understatement to say the least, the second try then overdone, and the poor cut of meat so tough it couldn't be cut,the meal was not eaten but still charged full price after a discussion with management was met with clear disinterest.A ten pound glass of wine offered in apology for what was a £120 bill not even coming close to offering any recompense for such poor food and service. First morning after arrival night we went to breakfast presuming we had just experienced an off night and breakfast would be somewhat better start again! .This proved not to be the case ! We were sat on a "table", with literally no legroom in what can only be described as a very dated bar area , poorly decorated, indeed a very small space , with a cleaner going around with mop and bucket while we were seated for breakfast mopping the night befores previous beer underneath our tables and nearby floors left soaking wet and the acrid smell of cleaning products all while we were sat for breakfast(daily) . Breakfast arrived, the sausage was so tough it was inedible, Eggs half cooked and "potato pieces" like something out of a freezer bag. The only saving grace was toast!,to her credit the waitress the first morning was very good and couldn't do more to make us welcome, she was the exception here as we found out later .The food both morning and evening definitely not the "fine dining" experience stated by the Inns description. That evening we went to another venue to eat then breakfast next day we tried the Inn again, ordering an omelette for breakfast which surely would be simple enough not to mess up .But no! unfortunately same theme, the "three cheese" omelette cooked in some form of grease,so much so it was dripping in it when brought to table, sickly cheese, and to make things worse the waitress who served day one wasn't our server, instead we were treated to some very disheveled lone young waiter , who proved to be clueless, got our food order wrong twice, didn't remember anything requested after asking "did we require sauces" , then went off and didn't return totally forgot about us .Literally breakfast consisted of toast next two days, this even proving an issue if asking for butter or marmalade, not a nice atmosphere at all. The luxury room we booked, was not the cleanest on arrival, broken plugs in sinks, dirty floors and not the standard described when booking. The daily clean was a joke, truly appaling, as any hotel you expect clean towels and bedding at least once in the week.We asked the cleaner after two days if they could service the room. After we returned the "room clean" left dirty floors, half cleaned bathroom and toilets and not even the bed straightened. The final straw was our final evening meal two days before we were booked to leave, which we had a house special curry, which made us both ill. The day we left we went for "breakfast" after we asked for scrambled eggs a "safe" dish we thought, again the food came soaked in grease, after my wife politely pointed this out to the young waiter, he became argumentative, rude and disrespectful, this took place in front of the owner, who didn't intervene, she didn't seem to have any interest in guests or level of service, reflected in staff attitudes towards customers .After breakfast we booked another hotel, packed and left.. If we could leave a minus Star we would, such a...

Unfortunately for the price I was quite disappointed. I am pregnant so couldn't drink alcohol. So while the my partner was able to drink expensive wine, I was only able to drink orange juice. I feel like there should have been more of an effort made for non alcoholic drinks, especially as more and more people are choosing not to drink alcohol. I think there was one brand of alcohol free beer, but I had tried that one in the past and didn't like it. This was a niggle as even smaller pubs provide different non alcoholic beers or even mocktails which do make you feel more included.

For starters I had the salt and pepper squid with peanut satay. There was a lot on the plate, but unfortunately the batter for the squid was so thick and completely unseasoned, you couldn't even taste the squid.

For mains I asked for mussels and focaccia bread. To start with they brought me chips, even though I asked for the bread. Then every single mussel came with a crunch of sand. Although the outside of the mussels had been cleaned, clearly they had not prepared the mussel properly ie soaked them in salt water so they open and deposit the sand before they are cooked. They were cooked very well and the sauce was lovely too.

My partner had the venison, which was a £30 meal. He said the flavours were lovely and the cooking of the venison on the whole was good, but there were chuncks of meat that was definitely overcooked and therefore really tough.

We didn't have pudding.

The service was not fantastic either. The woman who showed us to our table acted as though she was annoyed that we were there. We had finished our drinks and wasn't approached by anyone to see if we wanted top ups for quite a while. This would have been fine if it were busy but there were only 4 tables in the restaurant with people, and there were 3 waiters. While the waiters were not serving anyone, they just stood around the kitchen looking board.

For our meal of 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 alcoholic drinks and 2 non alcoholic drink it came to nearly £100, so definitely would have expected the quality of the food and the service to be...

First of all I must comment on how beautiful the location is and how nice the restaurant looked. We went as a large group booking to which we arrived and tables were spilt into two smaller groups. We were first greeted by a lovely waitress who knew what she was doing and was very attentive and it felt as if we were cared for almost. Once we got around to our main the food really wasn’t the best. My partner order the steak to a medium rare cook but when he got it there was no peppercorn sauce with it like it said on the menu so we had to chase that up which took about 5-10 minutes until we actually got it, and when he had got round to eat it it was cold!!! I thought considering that’s a £30 meal was pretty shocking as you would at least expect it to stay warm during this time. Myself and another family member ordered a cheese and bacon burger which was extremely dry and made my mouth so dry and there was just no flavour too it and the bacon was also over cooked so tasted a bit burnt and the bun was massive and becoming stale. A couple of my other family members had the cod which was very tasteless and even made one of them even feel a bit sick afterwards as it was almost dripping in grease from the fat it was cooked in. The chips were lovely though for all the meals. However they did also run out of garlic mayonnaise even though it wasn’t overly busy. There were also some waitresses being trained and they seems very nice. One was very rude when asking for a pot which was on the table without saying either please or thank you and another one itching their nose and then continuing to touch and carry plates without sanitising!! 😨 This waiter was picking at their bum in front of people which really wasn’t appealing and still continuing to serve afterwards which really put us all off. Overall for such an expensive meal myself and my family were very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this place...

We spent four nights at the inn. The rooms are outstanding, set aside from the old building, very modern in furnishings and finish, all with balconies overlooking the Camel estuary and Padstow. The bathroom had a deep bath as well as a walk-in shower. The food was very good, at the high end of pub cuisine. You can eat in the restaurant or the bar area - the former is light and airy also with views over the estuary, whilst the bar area is cosy with lots of interesting artifacts, many associated with Dickins. We ate in the bar because we had our dogs with us. Breakfast was also good with a choice of full Cornish to pancakes. The ingredients are locally sourced. Padstow is a short drive away and if you are feeling adventurous you can walk there using paths to the Camel Way and a bridge over the river Camel.

Restaurant review only. We visited with friends (their recommendation as they live in the area). The restaurant definitely didn't disappoint with fantastic dishes and attention to detail. Staff were friendly and attentive. Everyone on the table enjoyed their meals (starters and mains). Food was cooked to a high standard and you could watch the chefs prepare this from your table or look out the incredible view from the dining area across the moors out to the sea. We also loved the interior decoration and design. This created an incredible atmosphere to the pub.
