The food was excellent... but and I'm afraid it's a big but.... the service was very poor. The starters came out perfectly. The mains which were steaks came out without steak knives... these should of been placed on the table once the food order had been placed...at the very least they should of come on the plates with the meal. We then had to wait for them before we could proceed. After being asked if there was anything else we asked after salt which came with no pepper so we had to help ourselves from an empty table .you could argue that we didn't ask for it but then what eatery serves a table with no salt and pepper. A drinks order was placed and once again we found ourselves wondering as to whether we'd been forgotten as was waiting just that little bit too long. Puddings.... our cutlery went to the wrong table originally and then we found ourselves being reached over by the waitress in away that was quite rude. Don't get me wrong all the staff were perfectly mannered but I don't feel that in their defence they had been poorly trained. Once again I cannot fault the food but the service for the money you were paying let down the establishment imencely and am afraid it will be a while before we visit again. I'm not a new customer either... they have upped their game with the standard of food but let themselves down with the service....

Love coming here to eat and drink but tonight was not very good. The price of two drinks was ridiculous, more than London prices, £14 for a large white wine and lemonade!!!!, waited 15 min for my drink to come, as lemonade was off, we were in the bar, noone in the restaurant , and just us and another table eating, so very very quiet. I have to say, that sitting next to the wall, at the back of bar, it is so grubby, the walls, covered in food, and stains, the seats ripped, food on radiators, it really needs a thorough clean. The table next to us, were complaining about the hardness of the chips with their fish, we had ordered the same, so waited for ours to arrive, yes, the chips were like bricks, so undercooked, which, when only two tables eating, how ??? - ordered bread and butter which never came, and noone came to check if everything was ok. The waiter (who was great) - who over heard me talking with the other couple, we were saying if you are paying £18 for fish and chips, the chips should be cooked - took this into consideration, and refunded both of the couples, service was not great, for such a...

Came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Booked a table in the bar ahead as we had our dog with us. No one said hello to us when we walked in and a young man from the bar who appeared very unenthusiastic took us to our table. There was no ‘how are you?’ or small talk. Which, in my opinion you expect at a higher end venue. We were not presented with a dog menu, even though this is advertised on the website and should be a talking point really as it’s so unique. Our food was great, amazing actually. However, the problem came after the meal. We sat there for 30 minutes with empty drinks just waiting for someone to ask us if we wanted anything else or the bill. Being my partners birthday I expected at the very least a ‘happy birthday’ or something. I actually wanted to cry for my girlfriend as I’d talked so much to her about the place.

Massive let down, we watched tables around us receive a much better service. I don’t know, but can’t shake the feeling this was some kind of statement or ulterior motive. Very disappointed as the food was really good and...

Came here with friends and our dogs for the quiz night (first Sunday of the month). There is a great value 2 and 3 course menu designed for couples which included a drink. We also got a turkey casserole for the pooch. The staff were very friendly on arrival and really affectionate over the dogs and made us all feel welcome. The food was fantastic and service was quick and friendly despite how busy it was! Would recommend booking a table! The quiz was very laid back with a good selection of questions for all age groups. The pub has plenty choice of beers wines and gins and is decorated beautifully to give a warm welcoming atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and looking forward to venturing back.

Popped in over the holidays while in the area. Would recommend a visit. There is a bar menu and comfy seating if you want something more casual. We sat in the restaurant. Pictured is the rabbit & chicken scotched egg, roast venison and sticky toffee pudding. The food was fantastic, my only comment is the scotched egg is a touch big for a starter. The little cottage pie that came with the venison was the real start of the show. At the end of the meal I was very full. So no complaints. Jenna, the manager, was great, she looked after us well, friendly and attentive. The other staff were also very friendly. I’ll definitely be back for their tasting menu.

EXCEPTIONAL!!! My wife and I have just had two ‘Lunchtime Sandwich Platters’ on two separate occasions (there is such a vast array on the menu). These included huge sandwiches (we went for egg mayo - delicious), plenty of chips/fries and a pot of homemade coleslaw. Everything was freshly made. The cost - £10 each. Let me say that again, TEN POUNDS! Oh, and a choice of desserts are included too. Will we go again? You bet we will. Serving staff are incredibly efficient, polite and…well, good at their jobs. You can see why you often have to book, which is easy on the website by the way. 10 out of 10 from us, thanks.
