The Plough has undergone refurbishment, Redecorated well with pleasant staff. We were seated quickly and drinks orders taken, Two large diet Pepsi's, Not complex for most establishments. Some thirty minutes later two pints of Pepsi were brought from the bar where they had been left to go warm and flat. We requested they be replaced, which they were, alas the second attempt were disappointing, we hadn't noticed how weak a syrup mix they had used in the first batch and these were also nearly flat, though they did have enough ice this time. When we tried to order a starter we were told they had no bread, so only one item was available, we skipped the starter. ordered fish with chips and peas and a sirloin steak with eggs, onion rings and chips. a few minutes later told that they had no sirloin available so would I change to rump. I agreed to this and the meals were eventually served. The fish was good with nice batter and well cooked. the peas were tinned and barely warmed. My steak was also well cooked, the eggs were not quite cooked with the whites still runny on the top, the onion rings were under cooked with soggy batter. the chips were however the weakest part of the meal. When you do potatoes with the skins on, you should still remove the eyes before turning them into chips, the black markings running through the chips is most off putting when you don't. Some of the sweet menu items were also unavailable, so we decided not to bother. when asked if we had enjoyed the meal? I said a resounding No and mentioned that I would be calling at a chippy on my way home. this was met with giggles. As I was still hungry, I did call at the local chippy and their chips were Fresh, hot and made with care. They also cost far...
Read morePre-booked for lunch on Friday 20/05/2022 at 12.30 for 4 Guests. Arrived at 12.20pm to a very empty building. However, we were greeted by a very pleasant and helpful staff member. She explained that we could sit almost anywhere as we were ,( at that time !) the only Customers. Duly seated and drinks orders taken, we were given the Menu. The Waitress/.Server explained that most of the menu wasn't actually available until after 3.00pm ! but went onto explain that the first 3 pages were for the lunchtime Orders. Each of us ordered a Starter plus a Mains. My own two selections were; Brushetta topped with a very tasty and plentiful tomato and onion salad. ( I could have eaten it twice over as it was so delicious) and a superb Pate with accompanying mixed Salad. My other 3 diners chose the Minestrone soup then a Tuna salad, Chicken Sandwich and Meatballs in a Tomato sauce. All 3 choices received a thumbs up 👍 All in all a very tasty meal. Large quantities, which we all appreciated. Do visit " The Plough Inn" . Service was great 👌 and the food taste and presentation...
