The only reason I have given one star is because there isn't a zero stars option. Have just had the most awful meal at this pub. We arrived less than 30 minutes after the start of the evening food service to be told that the only mains were chicken dinner or vegetarian sausages. Soggy vegetables, cold hard yorkshire puddings and my friends assured me the mash was PACKET mash. I am also convinced that the chicken was microwaved as it had no colour at all. At one stage we were in conversation with the tables either side of us and we were all laughing incredulously about the terrible food. 3 of us attempted to fill up on dessert with 2 choosing the apple crumble and one the winter Eton mess. The crumble was mostly oats and the winter Eton mess was basically a glass three quarters full of dessert sauce topped off with squirty cream and a tiny amount of broken meringue. When we went to pay the bill the young man on the till asked if we had enjoyed the meal but totally ignored me when I told him. In short - bad food and...

We stated here for one night to break a journey,|As other people have noted very friendly staff (and locals), We also had dinner her. There was a good range of pub grub meals well cooked and nicely presented by a friendly and well organised team . Note the kitchen closes at 8p.m. A good range of hand pulled beers the one that I had was a bit too citrussy for my personal taste, although I know this seems to be the trend lately and it did go well with my pie.|The room a little dark, but that really didn't matter however their was a permanent green coloured light just above the door. I don't know if it was a fire alarm, but the room already had one. I had to sleep with my back to it . Very. comfortable bed and apart from the green light a good night's sleep .|Breakfast, what can I say! Meals were individualy cooked and you can take your pick from a large menu. Everything was beautifully cooked, which set us up perfectly to continue...

Quite quiet when we visited on a Saturday afternoon so service was very attentive. Both food and drinks menus had a decent range and were reasonably priced. We both ordered burgers with a side of onion rings and were very satisfied (and full) with our choices. Husband had the pulled beef whilst I had the stilton and mushroom, we would recommend both. Onion rings were absolutely the best. Can also recommend the Mexican Lime Spritz from the drinks menu. Simple yet refreshing! Looking forward to visiting again.

Did the job. Basic but clean and comfortable, although I was left pondering the significance of the two (faux) wagon wheels in my room. Was it a hint to fix someone's carriage? Does a career as a wheelwright beckon? Who knows?! Staff friendly, food good. Would I stay there again? Yes.

Was staying at Cresswell towers caravan park and decided to have a walk to the Plough Inn. This is a great pub for people of all ages and the food was amazing and the staff are very friendly. I'll be back next year to try something else on their menu
