Where do I start....... We just got back from a meal there..earlier in the day my wife tried to contact them all day to add another person to our group (5 people) but no answer to phone calls. We arrived and got shown to our table approximately 8 people in there at the time ..took about 15 mins to take our drinks order..drinks arrive another 15 mins later..tried to order our food but got told that they're busy and there's a wait for orders . Finally took our food order but when I tried to order a burger we were told they've ran out of burgers ..that's pretty much 50% of the menu not available which we weren't told. 3 of our group had the "sizzling steak " which on the menu said it came with Onion rings, tomatoes, mushrooms chips...it only came out with chips and a couple of chopped peppers and raw onions. In fairness the steak was OK ( had worse !!!) . Another had the "wagu" burger ... it was dry and awful ..nothing like wagu at all . Our food took way over an hour to arrive..apparently the chef was off tonight !!!!đ¤đ¤đ¤ Another table up a left at this point as we're fed up waiting for their order . After complaining to the bar lady about what was missing of our orders she said she would discount us off our bill... ÂŁ3 off was what I was expecting !!! I will say I felt sorry for the young girl waitress who was quite embarrassed and she was trying her best but clearly the management are not upto running a pub/ restaurant. We live local to this place and it's such a shame to write this review but I don't want people wasting their hard earned money on a meal out here. I know it's a hard trade in the current climate but my hard earned money was completely wasted and the bar lady was quite rude when we tried to constructively...

Read moreThey say the first bite is with the eye. In the Podymore Inn, your eyes will deceive you. The carvery looked pretty terrible, but tasted really delicious and not one member of our family of four was dissatisfied. We all had either beef or pork carvery and could not stop eating it. They also had giant yorkshire puddings which is always a hit with the kids. Service was friendly and prompt. It would have got 5 stars if:
the food looked better (strictly carvery observations here, meat looked delicious but the veg, particularly the cauliflower cheese, looked a day old) there had been a greater variety of non carvery food (basically just pie and fish and chips on offer) they had something to occupy children while they wait (colouring or a menu or something to that effect)
Pudding was more varied and also delicious, though the fudge brownie was closer to a chocolate sponge than a brownie. Still, it was VERY tasty.
Overall? I was well fed, as was my family, with tasty food and the price was reasonable considering the sheer amount of food we were...
