We are staying down the Road and have an English so it was a must visit We arrived at 18.450 and it was busy, the serving staff told us we could sit and have a drink but couldn't order for 30 mins. We didn't mind and have to say this was really responsible as we ordered at 1920 and the food came timely rather than them keeping smashing the kitchen so good planning This is a traditional pub, an actual traditional pub with great grub and not a wannabe I actually could of picked a couple of starters but we weren't 2 course hungry I went for the belly pork and husband a pie! It was actually delicious, so good! The sauce on the belly pork looked so different to how it tasted it was yummy! Staff were great, good food and nice surroundings

Unfortunately our visit got off to a bad start as staff were not aware or educated on hidden disabilities and exemptions. This was awkward and Embarrassing even more so when new knowledge passed on to other colleagues drawing further attention to us. Soon put right by the manager the damage had already been done, hopefully now will be better for others, it's all about the learning. Food however was so delicious and so many other lovely looking things on the menu. Onion rings were perhaps the best I've ever had! We didn't feel overly comfortable dining with our little one though, no other children around, pub quite dark and felt small. Enjoyed our second visit, again food delicious.

Stayed at the Garlic Farm which is only a few mins down the road from this pub. We were told this pub was very local and offers great food. We were delighted to find the food was absolutely delicious. The chunky chips are the best we’ve ever had. Wish we could order them just to take them away. Really lovely, warm, cosy pub. Great for a drink or for a yummy meal. The staff were very friendly. The only down side this place is rather busy so you may need to book before going. Also the place is slightly small so the tables are quite close together so there isn’t much space or privacy. This place is highly recommended! Love to come back to this place again.

We had reserved a table for dinner but when we arrived (with a starving seven-year-old in tow) we were told that there was no table available. It transpired that the person taking the reservation had got the date wrong. Extremely annoying and very inconvenient, but I am aware that accidents will happen. However, neither the employee concerned nor the guy whom I took to be in charge showed any contrition nor made no attempt to remedy the situation.

Worse still, they then blatently lied by saying that they had confirmed the (wrong) date and time with my wife and tried to blame my wife and make out that she was the liar when she said that they had not. We pointed out that there was no way that we would have booked a table for a later date because we would be 150 miles away. The only reaction from mine host (a relative of Basil Fawlty?) was to say "Good" in an insolent manner.

At this point I raised my voice - not in righteous anger, but to ensure that everyone else within earshot was aware of their incompetence and duplicity. Incidentally: they should note that the polite and effective way of confirming a booking is by email or text, but I suppose that this would reduce their wriggle room for blaming others for their mistakes.

Regarding your response: you've done it again!!! Rather than admit to an administration error you have told another blatant lie - YOU DID NOT "CONFIRM" THE DATE AS BEING SATURDAY - and tried to divert the whole of the blame on to my wife who, I repeat, booked the table for Friday. You are like the worst type of politician (I can think of several) who simply lashes out and blames everyone but the real culprit. In this...

We were recommended this restaurant by a good friend who worked on the island for many years. The irony of the situation was not wasted on me when after arriving we found out that the Inn had only changed hands 12 days earlier ! This was there fourth or fifth night serving food. So we sat down and bit the bullet. However it worked out really well. It was excellent. I don't normally pay so much for a main course but I did. I chose the mixed grill. It was delicious. Plenty to savour. Steak , bacon , two sausages , a large mushroom , with chips and a salad. My wife had the steak and Ale pie , served with seasonal vegetables . For the limited time the Inn had been open I think it is an excellent start. Please be careful when reading reviews as they may well be written about the old management. This is probably one of the first reviews written. I would still highly recommend it. The staff were very good , certainly they knew about the restaurant business and i was impressed with their knowledge . It was busy but not crowded, we sat in smaller room close to the bar area, which I was pleased with. There was a large outdoor seating area and a garden too. All in all a very good experience. Thoroughly...

We received a warm welcome when arriving and the pub has a cosy traditional feel which we love. We arrived at 12.30 and there was no delay in service. I would recommend booking as all the tables had received boards on with atleast 2 sittings. My son has a dairy allergy which can make eating out a pain or he has the same food everywhere. It was a nice to see dairy free/vegan options available. He had a jacket potato with beans and cheese. It was a good size potato which was oven baked, loaded with beans and cheese severed with side salad. My partner had the homemade steak and ale pie with mash and veg, he said it was the best he has had for a very long time. I had roast and couldnt decided between lamb or beef so had both (pork and vegan nut roast are also an option). It was severed with roast potatoes, parsnips, mash potato, veg (carrots, broccoli, red cabbage and mashed swede) stuffing, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. My son had a pudding, which is a treat for him (due to allergy) he had vegan chocolate and caramel fudge cake served with dairy free chocolate ice cream. He said it was really good. All the portion are of good size, we all left feeling very full. We highly recommend and will...
