Great pub with a good selection of ales and really nice food at very affordable prices. The outside seating areas are what really makes the place though. You can sit in the garden with various gazebos, under the covered area with comfy sofas, blankets and woodburner or in the completely enclosed and glassed roof area. Whatever the weather you are catered for. They also have a lovely little village shop which sells the daily essentials plus coffees and a selection of locally made pastries (I can recommend the almond croissants) as well as locally produced, beautiful charcuterie. Super staff, great ambience and food. What more could you want from a pub? Highly recommended.

The warmest of welcomes today, my first visit. Landlord so easy to talk to and find out more about this very very traditional english country pub. Food still being served at 15:00 hours Sunday. Menu was basic wholesome food, unfussy but sure to satisfy who like pub grub. Does a good trade from locals and passers-by. A few real ales, three thatchers, two lagers all on draught and guinness. Small, cosy, chatty. Glad we tried this one. The landlord is especially friendly. I sometimes find small pubs a little intimidating but we were offered a table from one of the locals and loved the local atmosphere. Meals and desserts generally range from £5 to £14.

We had another visit today (26/10/23). It’s good that the pub has reopened with a new very friendly landlord. The menu is quite small but the food and drinks were good. Well worth a visit Previous visit spring 2023 We visited on a Thursday lunch time to find new owners who had recently taken over the pub. Both were very friendly. It’s a small menu with a few specials but the food is good and most is either gluten free or low gluten. The lamb cutlets were delicious as were the home made puddings. It’s not far from Bristol, in a good place for interesting walks and has ample parking.

Prices Motto is a quaint country pub with a cheery Aussi landlord and a selection of excellent beers. The bar food, burgers, pizzas, etc. seemed OK for a pub but the main menu was seriously unimpressive. The much praise fish pie was “finished!” so I took the belly pork which looked wonderful when it arrived with crisp crackling on top but regrettably that was the best bit. The rest was almost all fat with a modicum of tough meat clinging to small cut sections of rib bone. The sweet potato was cold as were the greens and the only other items of note were the sticks of cold asparagus which was nice. My wife had the veggie pie which was very disappointing consisting of stale tasting cold left over vegetables compressed into a ceramic dish, no pastry or sauce. The accompanying vegetables were also cold but asparagus was OK. In my view it was not cheap and no self-respecting chef/cook would consider serving up what we received but it was Saturday lunchtime and perhaps the kitchen staff were resting after their earlier efforts or...

Nov 13th 2019. Came across this delightful pub by accident. My wife and I were heading for another local pub Fortunately, I spotted a road sign "Inn, next right". So we thought we'd give it a go. Although just passers-by, we were greeted so well by Alex. We felt like 'locals'. Our food order was well executed and well presented. I ordered Sirloin Steak, medium rare, and that's exactly what I got. My wife assured me her Salmon order was equally nice, all courtesy of Lloyd. A very decent selection of real ales were available with a 'try before you buy' option if needed. The pub was quiet that evening so we had loads of time to share stories and listen to music with them both. Alex is a dab hand on Spotify!! We stayed well over our intended time and were so glad we did. I feel confident in saying that if YOU give this super pub a go, you'll be shown the same good old English/Aussie hospitality that we were. Thanks Guys, for a great and memorable...

Perfect Steak, Great Beer, An Excellent Pub Experience! Wet Tuesday night on the A38 doing the airport pick up run. The flight is delayed and we turn off the main road in search of The Prince's Motto, my daughter had recommended it to me as "Your sort of pub". She was right. The welcome was genuinely friendly, the choice and quality of beer was mouth-wateringly good. Table for two not a problem, menu provided but check the "Specials Board" as well... I have to say that everything on the specials board lived up to it's description... special! The Prince's Motto is a truly quaint pub with tasteful décor and a master of a chef. It is obviously well loved by the local patrons and at the same time very much lived in. Space between tables is tight but the atmosphere is generous and accommodating. I wanted to stay, I had found "pub heaven" on the way to the airport. I suggest that if you're passing on the A38, make time for a visit. You'll...
