Doing my final rounds of Wellingborough`s Breakfast venues. Visited on Saturday 18th November. This is an unlimited Breakfast Buffet. I paid approx £7 and some change as i wanted a Black coffee too. The staff were friendly, the tables were nice and clean with all condiments available. Once you pay at the till , the staff give you your cutlery and your cup. You then help yourself to the breakfast selection which includes: Sausages, bacon, eggs, potato tots, beans, tomatoes. A choice of white and brown bread, where you can put them in to toast in the machine (takes a few minutes), help yourself to butter or Margarine with a selection of Jams and Marmalades. So i opted for the sausages, bacon, fried eggs and beans. The breakfast is tasty, the sausages and bacon arent premium quality and your dont expect it to be for a all you can eat buffet, but it was filling and enjoyable, and i didnt need to back up for seconds as i was full. I did have 3 sausages, and 3 bacon along with 2 toast, beans and egss (see photo), but for those with a good appetite, you can certainly fill up. The place was really busy, with a good mix of family`s and couples. Overall, i would go back if passing as it is good value for money, especially if your hungry as this will set you up for the rest of the day.

The missus decided that the kitchen was closed so we went out for dinner. We found ourselves at The Priory because I fancied trying somewhere we hadn't been before and the missus downright refused to wined and dined at McDonald's. First impression - fairly average chain diner / pub, clearly doing a roaring trade with a large dining area, a smaller bar (no kids) area and one of those whacky kids places next door if you felt like offloading them to burn off some energy. Service was a little slow at the bar, but it was moderately busy. Staff were polite and freindly, and there were lots of them around being busy, definitely not understaffed which is always reassuring. Food arrived after a fairly short wait, looked good, tasted good, no complaints from us. I had the stilton chicken, served with mash and peas, the wife had the "old faithful" burger and rated it "pretty good". Ideal place for a quick bite, good parking, easy to find and priced to win over even the most frugal hungry tummy. :)

Phoned for over an hour to reserve a table on Friday night, nobody bothered to answer the phone. Decided to risk it and drove an hour and turned up at 9.01....hoping the last meal order was 9pm. The staff said that they stopped serving at 8pm!!! On a Friday Night??? How is that good business? One of our party explained we had been ringing for over an hour. He just said....."well we're busy!" The phone rang while we were there, and there was approximately 12 people in the pub and NOBODY at the bar (where the phone was) and still multiple staff walked by it and constantly ignored it ringing! We came to review the food....thankfully we didn't eat there, as I'm sure that if the food was up to the same standard as the Lazy staff, that too would have been appalling! I certainly hope the owners/management see this review.

Went today, I booked a table for 14:30, The greeting was absolutely fine was very reassured being seated and told about full table service and the one way system ect....The initial order was taken quickly and drinks came out in good time, Unfortunately everything after this isn’t the greatest....When the condiments was brought out we asked for more Mayonnaise as we was given 1 sachet (party of 4) I was told it was 1 per table as they was big sachets but told he would get 1 more for us anyway - Found it odd as I was give 2 sachets of ketchup 2 of hp brown, 2 tartar, 1 mayo and I didn’t ask for any of them so why not just being out what is asked for and take the others back?! Anyway the food came in around 20 minutes I found this a little slow considering the level of trade at the time - The pub was fairly quiet. When it came it was just fine not hot but luke warm but again was fine and especially at the cost. When we finished the food however the pub was absolutely dead by this point, I had to prompt a member of staff to come and clear the table as we had waited over 25 minutes for this to be done - There was no offer of desserts or the bill - considering this was supposed to be full table service it made no sense i wasn’t offered this. I then asked a lady walking to sit a table down if she was the manger (she was) She apologised for the handling of the service from the staff. I got the bill and left, I was going to get desserts but by this point I had waited so long that frustration takes over. When you sit in a pub with no more than 3 tables and 2 staff members are behind the bar not working at any fast speed to deliver high standards, I find this unacceptable. I’ve visited this pub many times and always had good experiences but today was ok food with rubbish...

I had a voucher for 40% off mains valid for weekdays in 2 weeks in January. The first time a party of 4 went one evening and it was ok. 2 of us had the fish and chips which were excellent. One curry, one scampi. Both good. A half hour or a bit longer wait though and they were obviously short staffed. Also sizzling grill wasn’t working so those items were not on menu. A disappointment. We mentioned the voucher to some other friends so 6 of us ended up returning the week after in the evening. The booking was for 6pm, we ended up having the food served at 7.25 pm. Totally unacceptable. The whole experience was awful. First there is only one place to order and the queue was very long. I think we were standing there more than 15 minutes. When we got to order, nearly everything wasn't available. 3 of us wanted lasagne, none. So hurriedly trying to find out what the others wanted instead without holding up queue. So we finally ordered and we were told it would be 45 minutes and was that ok? It wasn’t but what could we do? So we waited and waited, it was more than 45 minutes. When it finally came everyone’s food was only tepid apart from the sizzling plates. Very, very disappointing and even with the voucher just not an enjoyable experience. The Priory is totally understaffed and the food ordering not enough when they knew that the voucher would be popular. All I can say is do not put these special offers on when you either don't have the staff or you are incapable of ordering enough food to meet the increased demand or some items are in short supply. I have just received another voucher from the Priory for 25% off. I certainly won’t be using it and it will be a long time before we...
