A fantastic meal and brilliant FRONT OF HOUSE staff! HOWEVER, for the SECOND time my sister was DANGEROUSLY mistreated by the Chef. Despite confirming with the restaurant that they had her allergies on file (at booking, and on arrival). the Chef delivered the wrong meal, not once, but twice. First with gluten (allergy), then with dairy (allergy). We received several sincere apologies from the front of house staff who handled the situation brilliantly, but despite repeated requests to speak to the Chef (for an apology and explanation), they (or any member of their staff) refused to speak to us, despite the restaurant being quiet! I cannot compliment the front of house staff enough, they were fantastic. But the spineless, inept and cowardly behaviors of the Chef are unforgivable and pathetic. We run a large, thriving hotel / restaurant ourselves a this has given us serious pause for thought and reflection on personal responsibly and the health and wellbeing of our customers. This inexcusable behaviour means we will never return to the Punch Bowl. Integrity as a Chef is far more important to customers than ability. My sister could have died from your kitchen staff's mistake, and you 'refused' to speak to us in a restaurant with (at the time) less then...

Christmas day lunch VERY DISSAPOINTING, only one choice of Canapes, had to ask for butter for the bread with soup, very poor choice of vegetables which arrived prior to the main course, (therefore were cold by the time we served them) Sticky Red Cabbage, Sprouts/Chestnuts/ Carrots, only one choice of Potatoes, Roast which were acceptable, why no mash, or boiled? (We were compensated with a free drink, & a bottle of Prosecco ) again had to ask for Cranberry sauce, surely when Turkey is one of the main course choices Cranberry sauce should have been on the table. another complaint the warm Christmas pudding was served in a ridiculous large COLD stone bowl, it should at least have been warm. Finally Tea or Coffee with Mince Pies, but never saw any Sweet Treats!!! One favorable choice was the Fillet of Beef which three of the party had. I can say the waiters/waitresses were very efficient, and helpful. I was one of the Carr family a party of 8 Have frequently dined at The Punch Bowl, and have always been very satisfied, but I'm sorry to say with this experience I won't...

Not cheap food VERY average and when I asked the waiter for a St Clements he remarked that the till was not set up for that drink. I then explained to him it was a bottle of bitter lemon and a britvic orange a slice of orange and a slice of lemon with ice and, advised him to put it through the till as two mixer drinks and said the lovely blonde waitress made me a super St Clements last week, ask her to do the drink and he said that she wasn't there today ..... he then said they were very busy and he would make me one if he could find the time. Very sad am afraid. I was with my grandchildren and daughter in Law otherwise I would have told him what I really thought and we would have left the premises. On the plus side the other staff were a delight and the weather was lovely. As were my grandchildren who start back at school in the morrow. A real shame because the week before we thoroughly enjoyed the food although still expensive. AND that was with a...

The Inn oozes stereotypical Yorkshire charm, rich with every element you would wish for in a pub. Just reading the menu gives you the comfort that whatever you choose the food is going to be fantastic, maybe because the menu reads like a best selling novel, maybe I just have a feel for these things. Quality is what makes or breaks an establishment, just looking at the rings that cuddle my pint glass as I sup the well recommended pint of ale, tells me that this place has high standards. Clearly a pub that takes it’s primary function so serious is going to be best suited to serve me a culinary delight too.

Have visited the Punch Bowl 4 or 5 times over the past couple of years and have always had a good experience. Service was brisk and yet attentive with smiles. The food has always been excellent and well presented. Beer also well cared for. Well worth visiting.

Disappointing!! Charming pub with a lovley atmosphere but we were forgotten about several times, the food was ok but there was not enough for the £15+ that Sunday dinner costs. Other people also complained to staff while we were here.
