A long overdue review…my apologies! My partner and I were staying in Welford for his birthday between Monday 25th and Wednesday 27th November 2024 having travelled from Shropshire. Our first night we ate at a local Harvester as nothing seemed to be open on a Monday. Whilst this was OK, we wanted something a bit less chain-run so on the Tuesday, I found The Pytchley on Google only a 10ish minute drive away. We got a parking space right near the entrance and it looked all festive and very pretty. We were quickly shown to a cosy intimate table in a little alcove and our drinks arrived quickly. It wasn't too busy and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. We opted for chargrilled lamb chops, pork stroganoff with sides of truffled parmesan mash and sautéed tenderstem broccoli. The food was incredible. So simple yet cooked to perfection. Proper homely classic food. We couldn't help but share each other's. The tenderstem still had a bite to it (I hate mushy veg!) and was drizzled with chilli and oil...so delicious for something so simple. The meat was tender and I don't think we left a single crumb of food. Im trying to remember exactly but dessert was a limoncello tiramisu type thing. Just wow...it was delicious. My partner had a large cookie with ice cream...again, we shared and didn't leave a single bite. The price was very reasonable and the servers were exceptional and so attentive. One particular lady, who was older than the very young but very polite and capable waiting staff, made our visit really special. Sorry I don't know your name but thank you for chatting with us and being so warm and welcoming. If we're ever in Northamptonshire again we will definitely return! Thanks again! I'll put this on TripAdvisor too as promised albeit 5...
Read moreWe had a roast here and it was lovely, the servers were very friendly and polite, and my client who has a learning disability was chatted to and asked what he would like, sometimes he isn't asked. We were having a lovely time when people started to come in, and seated themselves at 3 tables. It soon became clear that they were all from one family with 11 adults when I counted just before leaving and 5 children, not small children. They were going between tables and hugging each other and quite obviously not from the same households, probably 5 different ones going by how they arrived and part of conversations, some obviously lived alone which made 2 households straight away. Then families came in, some seemingly bringing others with them that weren't living together. Certainly more than 2 households and a lot more than 6, and we were sat in a marquee, with the sides open. When we left I actually took my client out the staff way, which meant steps as I did not want him getting too close to them all. Other people noticed them all, not sure if anything was said. If I wasn't with a client who does not like things like that discussed as it upsets him, I would have complained and asked how they could get away with it. Please be aware of this and ask people to leave if they do this. I get it was one of their birthdays, but many people through lockdown haven't been able to celebrate with family in or out, rules are there...
Read moreI visited The Pytchley Inn in West Haddon today for a lovely lunch and catch-up with an old work colleague, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
There was a small mix-up when we arrived – although we had booked online, the reservation didn’t appear on the system. However, the team were very apologetic and quickly showed us to a table, so it wasn’t an issue at all.
To start, we shared the bread and olives – a really generous portion and absolutely delicious. For my main, I went for the chicken burger, which was fantastic. The chicken was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavour – everything on the plate tasted great.
For dessert, I had the cherry chocolate tart. It was rich, indulgent, and absolutely incredible. Although it usually comes with cream, I asked if I could swap it for ice cream and they were more than happy to accommodate.
We had one starter to share, two mains, two desserts, and four glasses of Coke – and the total came to £68, which I think is incredible value for the quality of food and service we received.
The staff were attentive and friendly throughout. There was a bit of a wait between courses, but they always acknowledged it and apologised, which I really appreciated – it showed care and attention to the customer experience.
All in all, a lovely lunch, great food, and warm service. I’ll definitely be back. Thank...
