I just happened to drive by and spotted the all pink ,with hearts and flower tea house. From outside it looks like a doll house , really pretty. Inside ,as you head into the right side of the place there is a lovely open fireplace, a big display with all their cakes and the tables are sectioned into tiny cozy rooms full of colour. I would have loved to sit there, as the view is facing the beautiful hills. Unfortunately I assume all seats were taken, as I was offered to sit on the other side , just as you go in, passing their mini shop with various lovely ornaments , in a wooden decor constructed tables, benches and high stools. The concept is great, but the wood work not so much. Besides the rough look of the badly cut timber , split timber with screws not screwed all the way( watch your clothes), the top was not leveled, making it a bit tricky to not spill your glass/ mug. I ordered a caramel latte that camed fast but had way too much caramel, so , as much as I appreciate the generosity, it tasted like a flavoured cough siroup. The foam on my latte was nowhere to be seen as they burned the milk. The breakfast I had was okeish, I would have expected to exceed a tad for the price. To explain, the egg and cherry tomatoes and beans were the only ones to be hot while the rest was almost cold. Although cold, they were again really generous on the bacon, which I didn't finish . Presentation of the plate very pretty, with heart plate, mini pan for the beans , a tiny cup for salt and pepper. The staff was pleasant and polite, I found it a bit weird that we had to pay after you just ordered, and initially was under the impression they are only asking me , as , to be honest, I was dressed really bad- like I just left the construction site..., but then I noticed they were doing this with all customers . I wasn't expecting this approach in such a small village, but , anyway, their shop, they can do whatever they want. I had a look at the garden as well, same fairy ,pink, cake concept. Despite the downsides, I will visit them again, and I think...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe've driven past here countless times, however, first visit this morning and wasn't disappointed.
We were seated by the window and it's a great place for people watching. Busy for 10am o a Sunday, although I can understand why: it's on the edge of Hunwick and if I was a local I'd be walking down every Sunday!
Interior styling is whimsical and Alice in Wonderland, and it's been done in a very polished manner that feels welcoming and homely.
I went for the bacon and pancakes and you have a choice of 3, 5 or 7 pancakes. I picked 5 which was perfect. Three would have left me wanting more, 7 would have been too much. The pancakes were light and fluffy, the streaky bacon lovely, crisp and plentiful, and the maple syrup didn't drown the dish. It was exactly what I needed and accompanied by a decent flat white.
Wee Wifey went for a roll and sausage with mushrooms and couldn't finish it. Beautiful meaty Cumberland sausage, topped with large mushrooms, all wrapped into a challah roll. No complaints and I finished it off when she gave up!
Welcome and table service was fast and friendly, and a nice touch was paying for your food after you order, which isn't as widespread as it should be for table service.
Garden area for dogs with water bowls looked like it would be great fun and a nice touch is the parking area for bikes.
Great food, lovely service, good location, and we came away with cakes....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited the QB for my birthday brunch today.
I had the breakfast which was very nicely cooked, with very good size portions. The presentation of the food was good, while heart shaped plates and glasses are quirky they may not to be everyoneās taste. The vine tomatoes looked and tasted stunning. The sausage looked tremendous, it was very meaty but could have packed a bit more flavour for me. Would I have it again, absolutely, but Iād be also tempted with the veggie option.
My wife had All About The Avo which again was generously proportioned and presented well. This was the third time sheās ordered this dish, unfortunately the poached eggs werenāt soft which was a shame as it really spoiled the dish.
Update We returned about for a birthday brunch with some friends. The food was really nice again 4 of us went this time, everyone was delighted with the food. The prices have gone up as they have everywhere. A little disappointed with the vine tomatoes compared to last time. As a group we had 3 breakfasts, a breakfast stack and an All About The Avo. Everyone was delighted. We arrived about 10:30 on a Saturday morning, you canāt reserve seats, by 11 all the seats had gone and people were waiting around for people to leave. So if you donāt want to ha g around get...
