Really great pub. Proper locals country pub but where more than happy to receive some weary travelers through their door. The staff where really helpful and very knowledgeable with their different ciders and beers they had in stock with a very good proportion being local to the area. There was two wood burners putting out a lovely amount of heat all around the pub. Our Dogs where welcomed with open arms and some doggy treats by the staff. There was a large car park but no disabled bays in car park although you would be able to get in via the main entrance that was step free. The food was delicious with all 3 of us ordering steak but with totally different cooking requests, which where all met from blue to medium rare. There was a healthy (huge) portion of chips and a few onion rings accompanying the 12oz steaks. All in all a very good priced gut buster of a meal. We managed to park our 7.2m long by 2.3m wide and 2.99m high motorhome easily in their car park.

Way out in the countryside in a pretty village called Priddy, is the Queen Victoria Inn. Olde Worlde it is with lots of stone walls and floors inside that probably haven't changed much since it was built. Waifu and I arrived lunch time on a warm sunny day and many fine looking lunches were being enjoyed as people sat under parasols defending their food from inquisitive wasps. Having eaten earlier, we were here just for the beer. The place is one of only 8300 on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, and that guarantees the beer will be good. I tried a pint of the Butcombe Rare Breed (3.8%abv) a little weaker than I normally drink, but the important thing, it was in perfect condition - praise to the cellar staff - the day being as hot as it was. It's hard work keeping a decent pint, those making the unannounced inspections periodically, are martinets on the day and any irregularities in colour, taste or smell attracts a rebuke that puts the Certificate of Accreditation in jeopardy. But not so this day, the beer was good the certificate scanned and a recommendation sent.

The pub itself is absolutely lovely. And the food they sell is great. But the staff that was serving at the bar are bordering on arrogant, rude and dismissive. Upon arrival I was told to go get a table number in a very rude tone. Then when i ordered, the young male server made me repeat my order at least 3 times, which to me felt like he was insinuating that he couldn’t understand me! When I joked it must have been the heat that makes him forget, he said yes and went to the back abruptly and came out and apologised in a sarcastic way. I ordered a half pint and he gave me a pint and when i said i only wanted half as driving. He said keep it and did not want to refund the difference. So when I suggested maybe to give me dash of coke or something to make up for it, he then tried to charge me for it! All and all dismissive attitude! Such a shame as I was really looking forward to testing out this lovely looking pub. The Food was gorgeous though

A cute village pub offering food, drinks plenty of seating indoors and out. An extra outdoor seating area and bar for busy days or events and a children's play area. Carpark and customer toilets, dog friendly and disabled access. We visited again recently for food and was not disappointed. Beautifully prepared home made food. Large portions and very tasty. I had the ham egg and chips which was amazing. Other people in our group had their special of game pie which looked superb and our friends said it was the best pie they had eaten. There was also a home made chilli which was spicey and tasty. 10/10 from all of us. Our surroundings were cosy and clean, a warm welcoming fire on a very cold night. Plenty of seating but can get very busy at peak times. You cannot book tables so it is first come first served. Good selection of alcoholic drinks plus coffee if you prefer. TIP: check out the specials board.

Absolutely amazing!!! 💯 The Christmas complete decorations outside all of this pub.. absolutely touched my heart & how all proceeds are for the childrens hospice, x So so very touching & I felt honoured to of been able to go to see all of your such hard work for such a amazing cause for children xx As I was stood outside, I honestly, in a world of my own, stood looking up to the most most mind blowing xmas tree made of all wine bottles, & the snowman also all completely made up of wine bottles... absolutely all of it was absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!! 💯 Total huge respect in all the huge efforts you all have done, so so glad my parents seen it in the daily mirror & on our htv west news, it honestly was the most amazing decorations for the gingerbread man donations I have EVER seen in all my life!!

We visited The Queen Victoria, AKA 'The Gingerbread Inn', like many others, to see the Christmas decorations and tied it in with a lovely, albeit bracing, walk along the mendips. The decorations are delightful and clearly a lot of thought and hard work has gone in to them, so hats off to the landlords and everyone else involved. It was extremely busy and this meant that there were no tables available, which unfortunately meant we had to take our drinks outside. Not much that can be done about that, as it's a small country pub, but it would have been nice to sit at a table and try out the menu, as opposed to sitting outside in the cold. Will definitely book next time, and would highly recommend others doing so too!
