The Queen's Arms is a lovely place to stay, eat and drink in the Yorkshire Dales. Sitting in the tiny village of Litton in a beautiful dale, it's a great place to stay for hikers who want to explore the surrounding fells. The couple now running the pub are friendly, helpful and take the time to make your stay enjoyable. The food is delicious (try the scotch egg for your starter!), beautifully cooked and presented. The local beers are good (I enjoyed the X Mild). The room we stayed in was simple, but clean and comfortable. We spent the weekend walking and they provided us with sandwiches and filled out flask with tea. On our second night there was a charity race night, which was great fun, and the locals made us feel welcome. The double room cost us £75 a night, bed & breakfast. For two nights, with one dinner and drinks on both nights cost us £215, so it's food value too.

Called here for Sunday dinner in this dog friendly establishment. We were seated in the small dining room which was warmed by a log burner. The service was friendly. We ordered two pork and one beef dinner and Haddock, chips and peas. Chips were fantastic, peas good, haddock decent and just enough. Roast potatoes were excellent as was the cauliflower cheese. The pork was overcooked and lacked quantity the poor beef lacked even more in quantity and the gravy needs work. The cauliflower cheese was plentiful but the other veg lacking, Yorkshire pudding small and average. Boltmaker served quite cool, which I prefer, but didn't quite clear yet tasted decent, £4-40 a pint. The bar area had a small number of dining tables and had a much better ambience.

The lovely traditional country pub nr Grassington in Littondale. Quite small but very quaint and homely. 2 rooms with dining tables. I had fish pie and it was one of thd best I've ever had, so tasty. My partner had cheese and onion pie with mash and mushy peas and said it was delicious. Proper mushy peas. We also shared a dessert of Bakewell tart with ice cream but forgot to take a photo. It was very nice although we did find a piece of hard plastic in it, because of that we wasn't charged. Great service, very friendly staff. Just alittle far out, down some narrow winding lanes and limited parking.

A family day trip out from Bradford with elderly mother in law - wanted to explore some new countryside and get out in the promised sunshine. Found the Queen’s Arms after a little googling of Best Pies in Yorkshire Dales - and it lived up to the promise, even if the weather didn’t! ||Thankfully booked a table for Saturday lunch - A pretty, little traditional stone built pub in a great location. Plenty of cycle routes and walks around the area - the pub has a laminated set of walks you can consult. As the weather wasn’t great when we arrived, the little fire was most welcome! But tables outside and a garden for good weather days (and dog friendly). ||Lovely staff - happy to answer questions and offer help regarding access when I booked. I must admit that when we arrived late (1:10 pm) and there were only a couple of people in - I was worried that I may have made a poor choice. Any qualms were soon dispelled - sat in a lovely mullioned window alcove (next to the dartboard) and just the right distance from the fire - we ordered 4 pies - steak and ale, fish pie, chicken - mine was a special of blue cheese and slow braised beef (and my first ever suet pudding). All were absolutely delish - served (I think) with choices of chips, fries or mash, and vege, mushy or garden peas (except the fish pie which as is topped with mash came with a side of vege). ||Not “cheap” but freshly cooked, tasty and very filling. Had no room for desert - sadly - but had a good coffee while we allowed our wonderful meal to settle and played a few rounds of cards - in the sunshine now streaming through the window. I should also note that by the time our food had arrived the place was full - locals and tourists alike. ||A proper country pub in a beautiful location. Definitely worth the detour - whether coming by car or cycle or on foot! It’s a pretty route from Skipton - lots of terrific landscape views, mossy dry stone walls, daffodil laden lanes, and lots and lots of...

Everything is not always rosey at the best rated places unfortunately.

I returned with my wife to the Queens Arms, having visited several times in the past whilst on holiday in the Dales. In the past, its been brilliant so we were keen to return. This time, we'd booked a table (outside, as they were busy) for a meal at the end of our honeymoon break. Despite booking, we turned up to no table reservation at 1830 but they had space in the garden so we ordered some food and drinks, cutlery arrived and then we waited... and waited... patiently, I assumed it was because it was a busy Saturday evening. When I finally went to ask on timings for our food at 1950, 10 minutes before the kitchen closed, I was asked if I'd made a reservation (?) - then it transpired that they hadn't ever put our food order through, it was just sat on a pile of papers on the bar.

A meek apology offered - we just left and didn't waste any more of our time.

It felt pretty bad to be left sat there and forgotten about, particularly on the last night of a holiday. On reflection, I think it's because the staff are not in control of the front of house; everything felt a bit chaotic and disorganised.

We won't return again and make the same mistake. I offer this experience so others can be aware that historical ratings should be taken with a pinch of...

We stayed at The Queens Arms at Easter and it is in a absolutely wonderful location in one of the quietest valleys in the Dales. It is an old Dales pub with a simple but charming bar downstairs and with equally charming rooms upstairs. We stayed in the family room with our two kids and it is one of the nicest little rooms for a family we have found, benefiting from an annex off the main space where the double bed is, so it was almost like having a second room. The food is carefully prepared and we really enjoyed it, and the quiet location makes for a great pint or meal indoors or outdoors. The hosts could not have been nicer offering a warm welcome and little extras, like very nice homemade flapjack in the rooms. Matt even gave us a ride back to the pub from an adjoining valley after we had done a hike. A service that goes above and beyond anything expected and was very kind considering how busy he probably was. I have returned with my old mum for a meal and will be taking the family again as soon as I can. We need more places like this. ...
