Stayed here last week on our way down to Shropshire. Had a very nice visit. Room (5) was nice and spacious for our needs. Had late dinner due to our arrival time but the owner who was serving us was very accommodating and the service was great. Food was very good. Both opted for lamb dishes. I had a lamb burger and my wife had the roasted lamb dish and we shared a bottle of red, all of which was lovely. Breakfast was also very good here. The Full English looked a bit sparse when it arrived but the ingredients were of high quality and it was actually very filling as a result. Service compared to the evening before was a little bit disjointed as we had 2 or 3 people involved in taking orders and bringing items so there was a small breakdown in communication at times but we got everything we needed eventually. My only criticisms of the stay (and these don't impact my rating) are that the TV connection in the room was very poor so the signal was weak and didn't pick up all the channels and the shower was quite cumbersome to use and could do with some instructions on the best way to use it. Overall though its a great place to stay that we'd definitely return to and recommend to others.

I had the single room for 4 nts which was above the kitchen, but no noise from below, but you do get the noise from the kitchen extractor system outside the window, but only during service times, also room was so warm, I never slept with duvet on. Room space was adequate with sloping ceiling, small toilet with good shower. Service was first class, staff were very attentive & helpful. I ate my evening meals in the bar area, and the food was really good, big plateful, steak pie was my best. Breakfast was good too, with a good choice of cereals before ordering hot foods. The location was good, off the main busy road, with two access points, carpark is large and surrounded by high bush & trees, I had a motorcycle and was tucked in a corner close to the building, carpark has no security, so lock up. Great place to stay & happy stay.

Stayed here in our motorhome as a "pub stopover" on the way to Scotland and what a lovely pub, the food was amazing, the staff super friendly and dogs are more than welcome, the location is close to the motorway but set in the countryside and no motorway noise was heard at all overnight and we had a peaceful nights sleep, next morning as the pub opens at 8am for guests staying at the pub we were able to have breakfast there too, fabulous food yet again, advise: book ahead for a stopover which is free if you eat in the pub, we will be back!! Thank you!!

Honestly have no idea what happened tonight, we had such a disappointing visit that it borders into the comical. The alcohol was about the only thing that wasn’t bad. Service was slow, they had 1 other waiter working. We waited around 10 minutes for drinks. We then waited 30 minutes for the waiter to come back and take our order for starters. We ordered 2x arancini and the camembert. We also ordered a second round of drinks and a coffee and coke.

When the camembert and arancini arrived somewhat 15minutes later, both were so incredibly salty, but particularly the arancini. I don’t know how it was even possible to get something that salty, we collectively spat it out because it was that bad. Mind you I’ve eaten some bad food in my time, but I’ve never had a visceral reaction to a food ever. I do not wish to exaggerate or wish ill will; but I cannot describe in words just how bad this food was. For the first time ever in my life, I sent the dishes back and stated we didn’t want to have more mains (because of how long this was taking). You could say I’m a stereotypical folk that will complain under his breath but never say anything, however, this food could not be consumed by a person or animal.

When our second drinks arrived, the beer and coke was fine, but my latte was very soapy. I asked for another, the waiter apologised and then made me one more, this was also soapy. At this point, and after confirming I wasn’t going insane by asking others at the table to confirm it was soapy, we decided to give up and go somewhere else. I went to the bar and asked to pay for the drinks and cancel the mains, we didn’t want them. They still charged for the camembert. £43 I think all said and told for well over an hour of our time, waiter said, “sorry about that” and that was it. Great.

Honestly, what can you say? You don’t think these things would happen to you… it’s a new experience for me at least. I’ve for the first time sent a dish back. My friends who eat here a lot and have done so all their lives since children were mortified. We went to an Indian around the corner and it was delightful. Such a massive...

We recently celebrated our wedding at the queens. The preparation and build up was amazing with fantastic organisation however, the day arrived and we were disgusted with the service that we were offered. The manager made us feel like a complete nuisance and was so rude to us (newly weds) and all of the guests. This was meant to be the best day of our lives but we were left feeling angered and upset. Don’t get me wrong, the food was delicious but the service was unacceptable and unforgivable. The list is far too long to post but an example of the disgusting service is the fact that my guests were refused drinks because they ran out of glasses. The guests had to go and collect glasses so that they could have a drink. Another example, my guests were refused lemon in their drink because they didn’t have time to cut a lemon. Also, I (the bride) had to clean up a smashed glass as the manager refused to do it. The young members of staff worked so hard but it seemed they couldn’t do anything to please the manager. They appeared to be petrified of their manager and it seems a very unpleasant place to work. I am sad that I have had to write this as the queens is a fantastic place to go for food and to enjoy the lovely garden but unfortunately the manager is going to ruin...

We ate here as a group of 7 at lunchtime today and left very disappointed with the service we received. Having been asked to pre order, when we arrived the staff had not been given this order and we were left waiting for roughly 15 minutes before having to ask if we could view some menus. Despite going to other tables it felt like we had been ignored as a party. Once we finally placed our order it took about 45 minutes for it to arrive. The young waiter did apologise for the wait upon it arriving but there was no reason given for the delay. The food was average however, the fish and chips seemed a small portion. Once we had all finished eating, we waited 20 minutes for our table to be cleared (in a dining room where there was only 2 other tables in) and eventually had to go to the bar to ask for a pudding menu to be told ‘yeh it’s just over there’. Bringing the menu back to the table ourselves and waiting for another 10 minutes (with the plates still on our table) we decided to give pudding a miss and collect from the shop instead. I do not place all blame on the very young waiter as he is obviously very inexperienced and should be given more support in his role by elder colleagues/management. Overall a very disappointing experience and we...
