The Railway Inn, Meare — Restaurant in England

I stopped here for an early afternoon pint with local friends. This pub is tucked away deep on the countryside about 2 miles from Glastonbury. The outside seating is plentiful and there is a huge field at the rear used for dogs and kids to play in. This pub also responsibly offers free overnight stays if you drink in the pub to prevent being tempted to drink and then drive. Top marks. Inside, the pub is a traditional country pub and offers a good range of beers, ciders and ales along with the usual spirits and soft drinks. They do offer food, but we didn't eat on this visit. A proper pub from a bygone age ,very resanbel prices much cheaper then other locals,down to earth supur welcoming. No food but varied choice off snacks chocolate etc. Open all day over chirstmas period which is great for me as my job means I'm more.off a daytime drinker open 7 days a week again very unusual around here but usselly 5 to late Mon to Thurs ,430 to late Fri all day Saturday and Sunday,but all day every day till around the second off January. This is a traditional, friendly pub. It was great to visit somewhere that has not been changed into a restaurant or bistro pub. We were also allowed to park our motorhome overnight in the field at the back. We enjoyed the peaceful setting and opportunity to sit and have drink in the beer garden. They don't do food.
