Really enjoyed staying at The Red Lion after a full day walking the Cumbria Way. Dry comfortable twin room with a wonderful en suite bathroom, and a table had kindly been booked for us for food. Nothing we wanted was too much trouble.

This was my third overnight stay at the Red Lion in the past 18 mths and everything was just as good as on my previous two stays.||I do a lot of trail running competitions in the Lake District and prior to finding the Red Lion, Id always struggled to find places that will do one night stays at the weekend and that werent charging mad touristy prices.||The hosts are such lovely people and the pub really is a credit to them.||I stayed in the twin room again, which is comfy, cosy, spotless and with a bathroom that looks brand new. ||The area around the Red Lion is so peaceful, that you cant help but sleep like a log. The pub also shuts at 10pm at the weekend and from then on, theres not a sound.||I had the beautiful cauliflower and sweet pepper curry, washed down with a perfectly kept pint of Corby Blonde Ale. ( Ive bought a case of it on then strength of the pint I drank in the Red Lion ! )||I didnt have breakfast, as I was away early, but without me asking the cost of my breakfast was knocked of my room bill, which is a really nice touch.||I really cant recommend the Red Lion highly enough and I wouldnt stay anywhere else when I`m running in...

This was my second visit to the Red Lion in the past twelve months and it was every bit as good as my first visit.||This time I stayed in the twin room, which was just as nice as the double room I stayed in last time.||The room was spotless, really cosy and comfortable, with a lovely modern bathroom, that looked like it had been recently refurbed.||I was going to have the excellent fish and chips, but the curries on the specials board tempted me away and I had a fantastic cauliflower and sweet pepper curry, washed down with a prefect pint of Flat Cap ale, from the Bank Top Brewery.||I slept like a log, as the area around the pub is just so quiet and the pub shuts at 10pm. ||If you want stay in a lovely, friendly, Cumbrian pub, away from all the toursity bits of the area, but still have access to likes of Coniston / Ulverston and surrounding areas, then I cant recommend the Red Lion highly enough.||A massive thanks and hopefully Ill be...
