Not a totally bad experience - staff were nice and place was clean BUT lots of oops. Window wouldn't stay open - wedge on order apparently, no TV remote control - on order apparently, bathroom was across the hallway (not much traffic as top floor but...). The very worse was wanting a quick breakfast getaway as had a lot if miles to walk ( on Dalesway LDF). Went down to bar and curtains drawn all in darkness, 1 table laid at back presumed for us but Marie Celeste, nobody anywhere around. Waited for 20 mins and had to go looking, lucky the chef was in early but knew nothing about anything other than cooking a cooked breakfast - which we didn't want! He was a star and did his best to find us coffee and orange juice and sort of cereal. Really disappointing all told to be forgotten and...

Just got back from staying in a Shepherds Hut for 4 nights just outside the village. We popped into Red Lion on Monday for our first night & I had the steak which beautiful & the peppercorn sauce was amazing, not like anything I'd had before & I eat a lot of steak with peppercorn sauce in different places & this has to be the best so far, husband had the belly pork which was also amazing. It was that good we went back on the Wednesday. We both had the burgers & again it was just beautiful. Also had the homemade lemon tart & brownie, again amazing. Can't fault the food in this place at all. Not your normal pub grub, it was far better & definitely recommend. Also book your table so you won't be disappointed of you can't get in. We will be back on our next...

Had a meal here this evening. Arrived early & table was ready. Service was very friendly & food was really good. The only issue is that the pub is dog friendly which is fine but they allow people in with 2 or 3 dogs at a table...this leads to inevitable dog behaviour issues....luckily Id eaten before the couple from liverpool arrived with their 3 mad dogs. I have dogs in my family so not against well behaved pets but where people are eating would it not be possible to limit the number per table or at least ask the owners to move the dogs away from where people are eating and possibly consider basic dog handling skills training? A further example of the crazy, inconsiderate & entitled country in which...

Wow what a lovely little gem of a pub! We stopped in for lunch - really down to earth friendly vibe. the bartender was lovely and really attentive. Food was incredible, and lots of places say food is homemade but you can tell it’s not, this is definitely homemade using really good quality fresh produce. I had the steak and ale pie & chips and the other half had the all day breakfast, both absolutely delicious. Proper log fire burning and incredible drinks selection - Real ale served in proper jugs as well, I could go on… if you’re ever in the area definitely give this place a go, these guys know hospitality :)

Very welcoming and accommodating, a traditional independent pub with plenty of character in the building and the staff couldn't do enough for us, fantastic lady behind the bar. Great that it is dog friendly and happily provided our pup with some gravy bones for free and a small meal for our dog at an incredibly reasonable price. Food was very clearly homemade, generously portioned and tasted delicious. Made me feel right at home, will definitely visit if I'm up this way again.

Sure a quaint little village. The pub is beautiful and rustic. Staff are sooo friendly and excellent service. Food is outstanding. Room is very spacious, comfy bed and super clean. Price is very reasonable. Locals are also lovely. Friendly note you can hear the bar downstairs but as long as you don't mind a little bit of noise that you'll love it.
