The Robartes Arms — Restaurant in England

First night on holiday here in Cornwall and went here for food with our dog. Food was ok but one of the barman was grumpy and unwelcoming. Whinging on because we had brought the dog water bowl from the porch into the bar temporarily so our dog could have a drink in the scorching heat all because a bit went on the floor (which we cleaned up). Maybe advertise yourselves as 'barely dog tolerant' rather than dog friendly. Always remember it costs nothing to be kind. Grumpy old git. Unwelcoming. Wouldn't go back.

Edit to respond to the reply. Firstly we weren't booked in, we were walk ins on Saturday teatime and were told we could sit down near the pool table. Secondly if you want the water to be left in the porch then put a sign up. Thirdly no one said it was a 'hardship' and it's not the fact we couldn't have the water in the restaurant it's how it was communicated to us. Rude and unwelcoming. Make all the excuses you want. I phoned yesterday as the previous pub I booked for mother's Day cancelled my booking and left me with very little chance of get another booking I tried various locations and no surprise they told me it to late the last pub I tried was the robartes arms and to my surprise rather than get a knock back I was greeted on the phone with we are very busy but are happy to accommodate you even at 24 hrs notice and I have to say when we got to the pub ALL the staff were as friendly in person I would strongly recommend this pub very friendly staff lovely food and a lovely atmosphere full...

We've visited this pub 3 times during our Cornwall stay. The first time was just for drinks and they were so accommodating and welcoming! The next 2 times was for food and drinks and they did not disappoint. We never booked and, once again, they couldn't have been more accommodating. As a family of 6, with a dog, they were just fantastic. Friendly staff who would do anything for you (moving tables etc). The food menu is limited (not in a negative way) and the food was amazing.
