I can't do a thorough review because I've only used it as somewhere to have a coffee before going for a local walk and a beer and some crisps on the way back. It's welcoming and comfortable - the wood fire is excellent. The food looks and smells as if a return visit to try it properly would be a good idea. Busy enough to make It feel well used but it might be quieter during the week. Reasonable selection of beers though the bottled beers are very limited. Plenty of the oversweetened fruit ciders that Sweden has foisted on us but they're everywhere. Ugh! Subsequent visit was very disappointing. Went there on spec about 2pm for a drink and something to eat during a walk to be told, rather abruptly, it was closed till 4pm and feeling it was my fault for being there! I won't bother troubling them again.

Only here for food and drink. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and would come back here again. Mainstream beers on tap but good selection. Patrons were fairly chatty as well. I'm surprised it was so quiet for a Saturday afternoon, maybe because there are no nearby hikes? Pictured is the pinwheel sausage and mash. Mash seemed homemade and sausage wasn't too meaty.

Lovely dog friendly pub! We had a delicious Sunday roast, I went for the beef and my husband went for the chicken, also had lovely puddings, I went for the sticky toffee and my husband went for the chocolate brownie ☺️ We then sat outside with a pint and gorgeous views! Super friendly staff! We are moving to rainow in a few weeks so we will definitely be back! Thanks x

After driving 8 hours from northern Scotland, my partner and I were looking forward to a nice pub dinner and our room. However on arrival, the atmosphere was uncomfortable as folk kept staring at us non locals and that was before it really started going down hill. After waiting 15 minutes at the table we reserved (after not being given a time to book, either 1900 or nothing) we had to go find our own menu's. This is ofcourse fine, but it would be handy to have been informed if it is or isn't table service. We ordered a pie and a salmon dish.

The chips and pie were cold and chips still frozen. The salmon however was completely raw, it had some evidence of being exposed to heat, but once the surface was broken. It was freezing and very raw. We returned the meals and got back a equally raw burger.

After this we gave up and just went to our room. The room was completely fine and quite comfortable, served its purpose. Particularly the bathroom as we had to be up all night visiting it with suspected food poisoning.

A poor night's sleep didn't not allow us to prepare well for our holiday to Italy the next day.

Sleep here by all means, but stick the the cold raw starters that they can just open from a packet and that does not require...

We had a family event that required booking all four rooms at once at the Robin Hood. Karen, the landlady, couldn't have been more helpful in accommodating our relatively large group (babies and dogs included!) and nothing was too much trouble for her. The rooms were comfortable and the access was easy. Food was delicious, service was both quick and responsive and our 3-night stay couldn't have gone any smoother.

I would absolutely recommend staying at the Robin. Many thanks Karen for helping us to have such a memorable and enjoyable stay!

Further update - 07.07.24 We had another family event in Rainow that meant some members needed to stay over for a couple of nights and so we booked out 3 rooms again, and, just as before, it was a really comfortable and hassle-free stay. The bar staff were really accommodating in providing food for the latecomers in our party (even though the kitchen was almost closed by the time they arrived) and we were all so warmly greeted by Karen.

We were all blown away by the difference at the pub on this visit, compared to all our previous ones in recent years - lovely bar staff and a truly lively vibe on both the nights we stayed.

We're going to find an excuse to...

We had a great evening, again another great pub 🍻 there is a new landlady and the food is generous and good, last week they fitted a log burner, got rid of the pool table and 2 sofas and a large rug are now in the place, this is now a cosy warm space, the pub is large and can accommodate a good number of people, there's a good variety of wines, ales, and other beer and larger's, the shipyard IPA is a favourite, there is a small bar area with tables and an open fire, there's also another seating area towards the end of the pub with another open fire and the access and egress for the toilets, smoke area and the car park and in the car park there is an outside seating area of a good size (I can't remember if it is covered) and there was 2 rooms in the small cottage in the car park, my mother in law stayed there a couple years ago and it was very well presented, although I don't know if it's available for rent at the moment, and the last thing is the view it would make a great base place for walking there's plenty of walks and some very interesting places to...
