Let me just start off by saying that thus place served me one of the best carveries I've ever had.
When we walked in it was a real old school feeling, I got the feeling this place had not changed in a very long time and albeit strange it was a very warm friendly "local" feeling, had a lovely open fire roaring away, a dog curled up in front and everyone was laughing and smiling.
Staff, very friendly and polite, really helpful and courteous towards us even if we looked like lost souls not knowing where to order food from etc.
Food, honestly fantastic, meat was so soft I didn't need teeth, veg perfect and the coliflower cheese was something to want a separate plate for it was that good.
Atmosphere, well we sat down at a table for 2 (me and the wife lol) and was so cozy then my wife asked this slightly older couple if they wanted to sit next to us and they did, we had a remarkable conversation and found out they are half a mile away and walked it to have a pint in the local which was a guiness and a wine spritzer I think, they was a lovely, kind and very interesting couple and they honestly made our night, we feel we made new friends right away.
The whole point to my story is if you ever want that local warm friendly atmosphere with great food and drink at very reasonable prices you may look no further as I've found the perfect place in a small little village called Nawton.
Please pay a visit and revel in the delights that is The Rose & Crown.

I was with two teenage family members and there was a group of rugby lads stripping, naked, with everything on show, standing on the restaurant tables. No staff were intervening which is disgusting when children were still in the pub. We also had another incident where we had our golden retriever with us and waiting at the bar to pay, a little sausage type dog went for our dog. We later realised it was a staff members dog! There was no apology in sight, just excuses that the dog had “little dog syndrome”. One of the owners had his hand round their dogs mouth to stop him biting! If it had been my dog trying to bite their dog it would have been a different story and it would have likely been headlined everywhere due to him being...
Read moreThis place is local to my fiancee and we both love it. It's from my understanding that the place used to have a poor reputation for being dirty and poorly maintained, I wouldn't know myself but that's certainly not the case now after it's recent refurbishment! During lockdown we were getting takeaways from here and everyone was spot on. We went for a sit down meal recently and again the food was spot on and decent portions. They have excellent local real ales on too and it is as equally as nice pub to just go for a drink as it is to sit down for food. Well worth making a booking or just dropping...
