Absolutely avoid this pub at all costs the manager is absolutely vile. We were in here with our dogs which as it states outside is dog friendly but is absolutely not. We were in here Friday 24th and everything was fine we were spending between Β£20/Β£30 per round as a family memorial to our son/friend celebrating his birthday as this was the last place we all were before he tragically lost his life. Everything was going good until completely out of the blue the manager came down and told us to get the dog off the seat bearing in mind that they had been there for a good hour and a half with no issues whatsoever and non of the bar staff who collected glasses had anything to say Infact they were actually commenting on how pleasant they all were. When we ask why he was going on the way he was he told us that we were barred from the pub and then took out his phone and started taking photos of us which was totally unacceptable. He couldnβt give us a reason why he all of a sudden got his knickers in a twist just put his hands on his hips and started prancing around like a fool trying to stare out the only woman/mother of lee out which was absolutely childish behaviour. Itβs such a shame as this pub could be a much better place and a great place to enjoy drinking without the likes of that extremely rude person such a shame for the rest of...

Before we entered we asked whether dogs were allowed and the landlord dithered before finally spluttering out an affirmative. In the establishment my partner asked whether the pub offered any local whiskies and was treated to an abrupt βnoβ. While he chose a whisky I asked whether I could have a tea as I do not drink alcohol. To our astonishment, the landlord said that he had no water and so he could not provide any hot drinks, despite also being a hotel. We felt so unwelcome and the cardboard and plastic screens between each table still added to this. We realise that everyone is very scared of COVID, and that he felt that these measures were necessary, but the curt, unpleasant and unwelcoming attitude is not, and if you want to enjoy the Lake District without surly staff, take your money elsewhere. The only solace we can take away from our visit to this pub is that it was a very rainy day and our feet were soaked, so my partner took the opportunity, after our treatment, of wringing his socks out in...
