Parked our car at the road side opposite the establishment and walked into the Pubs grounda. The Outside covered seating area was devided into numerous sections appropriately named Cabins which were numbered. The seating, although plentiful, was in effect picnic tables, but with extremely narrow seating surfaces, image attached, ideally suited for people under 5 foot with very short legs. For others it was a struggle. Once you have folded yourself into the tight space and play a balancing act with your body on the narrow bench, you end up playing footsie with the person sitting opposite. We went and ordered our food and drink and paid for it and the food was brought to our Cabin. My chosen lunch was the sweet chilli chicken jacket potato with coleslaw as a paid optional accessory, image attached. Considering I was the second last person to place my order, my food came amongst the first, so thank you, but it did generate some remarks around the table. The jacket potatoe was soft throughout, and perfectly cooked and was piling hot. The salad was finely shredded/sliced and nice and crispy which was good but without any form of dressing. The optional coleslaw was very tasty and creamy indeed, well done. I was expecting battered and sliced pieces of chicken with sweet chilli dip. However I was served small cubed pieces with a texture reminiscent of plant based chicken or extra firm tofu, this was disappointing, perhaps this can be addressed. Would be nice to have the use of a fresh pepper mill. The place was busy, so that is always good for the business.

Back at The Ship for breakfast—and still impressed Second time here, and it didn’t disappoint. Went for the full English again, and everything was spot-on: bacon crisp, eggs just how I like them, and the tea? Strong, proper, and served with no fuss. Place has a calm, local feel—no rush, no noise, just a decent start to the day. Staff were friendly without being over the top, and it’s clear they know how to keep things consistent. Definitely earned its spot on my regulars list.

Fabulous family get together meal, all food was spot on and I particularly liked the attention to detail you get here that is often lost elsewhere, the ambience is lovely too. We see some afternoon teas come out while we were there which looked great too so planning that for our next meet up.

Many years ago I lived in this gorgeous little village. My husband and I went in this pub ONCE the whole time we lived there as we found it a very hostile and ā€œcliqueyā€ environment and vowed never to go in again… fast forward about 35 years and I am invited to a baby shower for my besties daughter. She chose this venue although I did raise an eyebrow, but she had put a lot of time thought effort and money into this lovely event. It was also my besties birthday so all happy celebrations and everyone looking forward to it.

I’m sad to say the passage of time has not meant that the owners of this establishment have had any improvement on their social skills. (I find out it’s still in the same family so no surprise there).

It’s not what you say it’s how you say it !! The passive aggressive intolerant attitude here is palpable ! Never have I know in a social setting such negative antisocial vibes.

I could go into a lengthy description of the afternoon but that is I feel tedious as there were so MANY issues.

We’re I not a guest at this lovely event I would of most certainly given my feedback at the time in person but it wasn’t appropriate.

Knowing how uncomfortable, unwelcome and strained the afternoon was and how much that had been put into this special time was simply deplorable.

Having been in business myself I am fully aware of customer service and profits but it’s of paramount importance that the customer feels at the LEAST welcome, wanted and have value for money. None of which we had the pleasure of unfortunately.

So if your looking for a venue to celebrate, feel welcome and for good value I suggest you research well and if this place is on your list place...

Popped into what should be my local pub that I visit regularly. The bar is clean, fresh and well kept and the outside seating areas offer a range of covered, open and non-smoking areas which is great! The landlady is warm and welcoming and very friendly. Sadly we were not served by the landlady but by a waitress called Lisa who I cannot for the life of me figure out why she is working front of house. Her attitude and demeanour is unfriendly and unwelcoming! In times when it is dificult to get out, the last thing you want is an unfriendly waitress with a bad attitude! I did mention my feelings to the landlady when I was leaving and she assured me this is not what she expects from her staff! The last time I was here, my mother was charged for our table and another table as well. Today the lady at the till didn't know the prices and tried to charge £7.95 for a sandwich that is £5.95 and a large rose and soda water with lime came in at £10.15. I can live with the prices but not when served up by unfriendly rude staff! I'll be heading to...
