The Shire - Cafe & Gelateria — Restaurant in England

The Shire is a beautiful place, they provide the most delicious food, drinks and ice cream. When it came to choosing a venue for a small (30ish people) wedding reception, we couldn’t think of a more romantic and scenic venue than The Shire, where we knew that the food would be simply out of this world! Setting up this event, both Lisi and Daniel were excellent, allowing My wife, myself and her family to visit the venue and decide how we were going to set up for the day. Communication was excellent and despite a few misunderstandings on our part, a delicious afternoon tea selection was put together for our wedding guests along with arrangements to serve their gorgeous home-made ice cream for all our guests. The price was also excellent value for money!

The day before the event, Lisi was amazing with helping my in laws and myself set up the venue. Lisi was very accommodating to our needs and was full of suggestions and ideas when the rest of us became stuck on how to arrange the decorations or needed a second opinion, which we are so very grateful for. Lisi really went above and beyond that day!

On the day of our wedding, we walked into the venue and were simply blown away! It was set out beautifully, the tables were set out with this magnificent display of Afternoon tea’s! – forget Betty’s – The Shire is the real top place to go for Afternoon Tea in Yorkshire!! The food was all homemade and all guests were satisfied with their selections praising our choice for such a beautiful venue with such tasty food. The grounds and views around are breath-taking and made amazing wedding photos, our photographer was thrilled with our venue choice as he could capture our pictures with a diverse set of lighting and landscapes.

We are so very grateful for the hospitality of The Shire (Lisi Daniel and their lovely children) who made our wedding day so special. If you are considering holding an event or a small wedding reception at the Shire, I would advise you to get booked in!! You definitely will be making the right choice and I’m confident that you will be met with the same warm hospitality that we were.

We had a lovely stay ❤ at On the Shire. Me and the hubby stopped with 3 kids, 2 teens and 1 four year old. ||The tent was so pretty , fairy lights , cosy inside, with a log burner, lamps , clothes rack , basket of logs and pretty cushions mirror and blankets. ||The beds were super comfy and everything was immaculate. The Beverleys were so welcoming , it has a lovely cosy family vibe to the place. ||We were greeted with marshmallows and sticks and colouring books, all lovely finishing touches. We has refreshments in the tent on arrival, water , milk and treats !|| ||We've never done glamping before so wasn't sure what to expect but we loved it here and would definitely rebook.The kids loved it and want to return. ||||They have a gorgeous building to use, set in woodland for dining or playing games in , decked with pretty lights and warm and cosy. Breakfast was served in here with lots of choice for adults and kids and nice coffees to help yourself too. You have access outdoor games if you wanted to use then too. ||||The facilities are super clean and lovely to have a nice hot shower in the morning. The views are so pretty and it was nice to get away from it all in such a pretty setting. ||||We wanted a day out in York for our daughters birthday , its such a perfect spot to explore the wider area. ||My little boy was running around the field having so much fun.The woodland area is so pretty too full of chestnut trees. ||||It's just a shame we only stopped one night , we would definitely stay longer next time. ||||It's perfect spot enjoying nature but still a having lots of little luxuries at the same time :). ||||Thankyou for an amazing stay 💛 from...
