The Snooty Fox: Fine Dining Meets Monday Night Madness
The Snooty Fox in Lowick isn’t just a pub – it’s a culinary temple disguised as a cosy local. If you’re looking for food so good it could make Michelin inspectors weep with joy, look no further. This place isn’t just one of the best restaurants in the country – it’s the best, and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise (after finishing my dessert, obviously).
Let’s start with the food. Calling it “good” is like calling the Mona Lisa “a nice sketch.” It’s phenomenal. The dishes are so perfectly crafted that you half expect Gordon Ramsay to burst out of the kitchen, high-five you, and shout, “It doesn’t get better than this!” The steak melts in your mouth, the sauces are pure liquid gold, and the desserts? Let’s just say I’d sell my soul for another spoonful of their sticky toffee pudding. It’s the kind of food that makes you consider unbuttoning your trousers halfway through just to keep going.
But The Snooty Fox doesn’t stop at being a five-star restaurant. Oh no, it’s also home to the most hilariously brilliant pub quiz every Monday night. Forget those stiff, overly serious quizzes where people whisper answers like they’re planning a heist – this is pure entertainment. Expect wild debates over obscure trivia, table-to-table banter, and at least one person shouting, “I knew that!” three minutes too late.
The quiz master deserves an award for their comedic timing alone. They somehow make questions about 18th-century history and pop culture feel equally thrilling. And the prizes? Sure, you could win a scratch card or some cash, but let’s be real – the real prize is the smug satisfaction of being smarter than the team who thought “Eiffel Tower” was the capital of France.
And the vibe? Perfection. The Snooty Fox strikes that rare balance between a warm, friendly local and an elegant, top-tier dining spot. The staff are absolute legends – attentive, funny, and somehow always appearing at your table just as you’re about to think, “I could use another drink.” They know what you need before you do, which is both impressive and slightly unnerving.
The Snooty Fox is the full package: world-class food, a pub quiz that will have you laughing as much as competing, and an atmosphere that makes you wish every day was Monday. Five stars – and an extra one for...
Read moreI had some time to spare so I decided to treat myself, having heard good rumours of the Snooty Sox at Lowick, I decided to go and have lunch there. I arrived on wednesday lunchtime about 12.30 and made my way through to the bar, the pub has very nice surroundings and is well decorated light and cheery.although it was quite quiet. I sat at the bar facing the the bar and lounge area and was served by a nice young lady whos name eludes me (sorry) the menu is fairly varied alot of seafood and steaks which suited me . I started with a seafood cocktail which was nicely presented and had plenty of prawns, crab, and was decorated with 3 whole giant prawns and crevettes this was delicious and also had a big chunk of lobster (yum!) I followed this with a signature lobster roll which again they didn't skimp on the lobster ! It came with parmesan fries and dressed salad both of which where also delicious, all washed down with a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc. by this stage I was full ! But the greedy side of me decided to have a pudding I had the chocolate bread & butter pudding which was ok not as good as the first 2 courses but perfectly respectable. Thank you to the young lady who made me feel so welcome and advised me on what everything was. keep up the good work and I'll...
Read moreThe snooty fox is fabulous. We have been quite a few times and always had an amazing experience from their friendly knowledgeable staff, the fantastic wine and the unbelievable food. Our most recent trip here tops them all. We got there a little early and were greeted by what I can honestly say was one of the loveliest people I’ve ever come across, Siobhan. She was so welcoming, friendly, helpful, polite and to top it all off, hilarious. She reserved us a table as we hadn’t. Made us feel so welcome and appreciated as she served our drinks. We then went to the dining area and had probably one of the best meals ever! I can’t remember the servers name but we have had him on many occasions and his knowledge of their dishes and what wines pair perfectly, the attention to detail he had is honestly phenomenal. My partner had a 42oz TBone steak and I had the lobster roll, one word - WOW!!! after we finished our food we went back to the bar for a few more drinks and the lovely Siobhan was there. She is the perfect face for the snooty fox. Aswell as the fabulous staff and food. The location, the atmosphere, the decor is all just so lovely. It is the perfect spot for a couple, a family, anyone. I can’t recommend it enough. Even in the bar area had some fun games and...
