Unfortunately a very awful Mother's day lunch, food was disgusting staff need customer service training, do not recommend and will not revisit, such a shame as looking forward to the new ownership. In response David and in the aim to provide some explanation, the chicken was dry with minimal extremely salty gravy, I had wanted a sunday roast but the only veg served was peas?? And with a frozen Yorkshire pudding ? when I asked was this the only vegetable being served I was abruptly asked had I not seen the menu before in a very rude tone and no I hadn't this was a surprise mothers day treat, the ham tasted like dishwater and the burger my partner had well the bun was greasy and had particles from the griddle stuck all over it. When it came to dessert my mother in law and brother in law had ordered crumble and when the gateau was incorrectly served the waitress abruptly stated "well that wasn't what was ordered but ok" huffing as she took them away to replace. My mother in law knew what she had ordered and even perhaps if she had got it wrong it was not good customer service. I understand you are a new business and you will all still be learning but I was just very disapointed with the...

Where do I start!?! Nikki and her team are a dream, Nikki is a real gem, a genuine lovely lady who we only met by chance stopping at her lovely pub on Friday for a drink and toilet stop. While we were there our Ferry got cancelled and my oldest son went in and asked her if we could stay.... not only did she let us stay but she also let us stay for 2 nights while she moved out to her boyfriends. We were truly grateful. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the pub, we had a sharing platter and the kids had chicken and chips and also dirty fries. The puddings were lush too. We then went on an evening walk and walked to the local beach from the pub which some of the locals advised us to do. Not only did Nikki make us feel welcome so did all the locals, we felt like we fitted straight in and we really could move and stay here forever. What a wonderful place. THANK YOU Nikki, Miranda and team. Thank you for the breakfasts too you went above and beyond. Also thank you to all the locals making us feel so welcome. It's not very often you come across such a wonderful place where everyone is so nice and helpful. LOVED IT. We are already looking to when we can come and visit...

Newly reopened with a friendly new landlord. Sadly, it now has a massive TV in the bar with the sound on and no one watching it - great for match nights but just distracting when you go out for a quiet lunch natter. Went for a lunch time snack. Beer selection was OK but the food was rather disappointing. Sandwich and chips (£8.50) made with super thin wholemeal value loaf. Baked potato undercooked and looked it had been microwaved so it was soggy rather than crisp and fluffy. Chicken burger was literally a piece of chicken and a bit of greenery in a cheap bun. Quite dry and tasteless - no seasoning or spices, no sauce never mind bacon or cheese or good quality brioche bun etc. I really hope this pub does well because it is in a lovely location, but it is going to have to up its food game to attract repeat business. We will try again in a few months and hopefully things will have improved....

Only popped into The Sportsman’s Rest briefly while out on a walk, but it was a really nice stop. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and even served me before her shift officially started, which was much appreciated. Dog-friendly too, will definitely drop by again if I’m in the area.

What I call a proper pub, small and cosy, they had the fire on in both rooms. Food was beautiful, I had the rack of lamb roast and I think it was the best roast I've had out in years!! Not over priced food and the staff and happy and friendly. Will definitely be going back soon.

Understated and a hidden gem on the outside, on the inside this is a top pub. It is extremely welcoming and very well located for walking the IoW coastal path. Dog friendly and excellent real ale too! Highly recommended, and there's even a jukebox!
