Visited on evening of 12th October 2021. I had phoned and booked for 6pm. The exterior of the pub was a bit tatty but it was clean and a typical old style Cornish pub inside. When I phoned I had explained and requested a table with cushioned seat and solid back to the chair due to having a bad lower back. On being shown to our reserved table it was the table that was the problem! It was beside a main walkway and was a low narrow converted sewing machine table. On us requesting to be moved the friendly lady waiter promptly offered to open up and give us a table in the then closed dinning room. The table and seating there was standard and chairs comfy enough. One other couple also came into this dinning room to eat soon after us. The meals were served hot, well presented and portions a good size. The day's special pie was chicken, leek and mushroom which was tasty. We pointed out that in it it was mainly mushroom with chicken and I found only one small bit of leek! Sides of vegetables and chips were fine. Husband's beast burger was ok but the bun was a hard crusty seeded roll. He left it as it was near impossible cut and to eat. No my husband doesn't have false teeth. No puddings had. The meal value for money? Maybe we would visit again St Maybn Inn but the service was a bit off and slow. Waiter said it was due to staff shortages. We have found it is like this with many restaurants and pubs throughout the UK due to the pandemic and it's knock on effects. As an aside there is the intresting old St Maybn church right next door to the pub. Parts of the church date back to Norman times. Worth a look around but mind the uneven steps leading up to it from the pub side.

We visited St Mabyn for an evening meal and drink whilst on holiday in Cornwall. We shared a very tasty sour dough and mushroom starter. We both enjoyed a lovely burger and shared a basket of tasty chips which was plenty for two. Though tasty, I did feel the ice cream sundae was overpriced at £8. The staff were friendly and the service good bearing in mind the busyness. There was a whoopsie with our starter being given to another table by mistake, but the waiter explained, apologised for his error, and it was quickly rectified without a wait. We happened to be there on a Shanty singing night, which we got involved in and had a bit of a sing-a-long. Not for everyone but we enjoyed the craic! Would happily return and recommend.

Very friendly pub restaurant with excellent food. While the quality of the cuisine is great, if I have a suggestion, it would be that some of the portions just seem too large. My chicken pie was accompanied by so much mash I could not finish it. My wife's rhubarb and cream desert was served in a glass with so much cream on the top that the only way to get at the rhubarb was to eat all the cream first. This may seem a bit nit-picking and I would not want to discourage anyone from visiting, particularly if you are a fan of large portions!

well after reading these reviews i thought we couldnt go wrong ...how wrong we were ... ordered steak and ale pie with mashed potato and mixed veg .... it came out looking dull and dreary ..pie was white , no crisp brown pastry ! ...4 bits of steak and gristle ! ... veg was a pot of cabbage , it all tasted strange too ... very very disappointed ... i said its not good to them and they said nothing just brought the bill ..i just paid and left , it wasnt even worth complaining ...if the chef and watress thought what was brought to us was ok to serve then it wasnt worth the agro ...shocking ....but you are limited in the town with no other places ....oh also it was so hot in there and the ceiling is missing and covered with tightly pulled white sheets ....yes we noticed because there is a huge hole above the fire place ! poor presentation on food ..poor quality...sort yourselves out and get staff that care and a chef...

We have lived in the nearby area for the last 4 years and not having gone to this pub we decided to go for Sunday lunch ( called and booked first). It was very busy but managed to squeeze my way to the bar and enjoyed a nice pint of Doombar. Whilst waiting to be called up to the carvery I got myself another beer( firebrand ) . I changed from doom to this one as I had tried it 2 days ago in a different pub not 4 miles away. To be honest a little disappointed having to pay £1.00 more for the same beer ( £4.90 ) Trivial I know but the Firebrand only comes from Launceston. Gripe over, Going back to the pub the staff were lovely and the food was fab,and the toilets where spotless..... I'll just stick to the Doombar as I...
