Nestled in the East Riding of Yorkshire in a little village called Lelley, The Stags Head Inn is just amazing. The landlord was very helpful and chatty. The waiting staff are attentive and welcoming. The setting is lovely, you can imagine your self nestles on the leather sofa with a roaring fire burning away, bliss. The star of the show, however, has to be the food. With two teenagers and a 5yr old it's always difficult to find something to suit everyone but The Stags Head Inn managed it. The mixed platter starter was lovely, the pork belly being my favourite. We added some tortillas into the mix which had a healthy dose of chilli mixed through, lovely. The menu was varied with lots of choice. We decided on Steak, Hunters Chicken, Burger and fries, Scampi and a child's fish fingers. We then had the bread and butter pudding, chocolte brownie and a childs ice cream. Everything was stunning....quality of the cookery, presentation, service.....The portion size was an issue, however, we just couldn't finish everything!!!We spent a couple of hours , munching, drinking and relaxing....and then sloped off upstairs to sleep it off. As a family meal for a special occasion The Stags Head Inn comes highly recommended.

My wife and I had dinner here on 3 occasions last week with our labrador whilst staying in Yorkshire on holiday for the week. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff whose service was amazing. The decor of the pub was so lovely and the food was absolutely amazing. We were very happy to see a menu for dogs as well, such a lovely little touch that we have never seen anywhere before. Needless to say, our lab absolutely loved going each time, knowing he was getting a lovely treat from the menu. We would highly recommend this pub if you are looking for a lovely meal in a nice place served by very professional and polite people.

Utterly delicious food that was surpassed by the superb service!!!

I rarely write reviews but every one on us was SO IMPRESSED I wanted to share this with others.

I was recommended on the food being really good, which it was. The exceptional service really made it an experience though not only nice food.

I booked a table for 4 adults and 2 kids in-between Christmas and New Year so it was busy. I forgot to mention my wheelchair though. when I called back a few hours later this was easily accommodated for. I finished the call and even mentioned what a 'helpful and pleasant' man I spoke with.

When we arrived it was busy but our group was instantly dealt with and shown to a table and offered drinks from a good selection.

One of the girls is a 'center of attention' type and the waiter saw and understood this instantly, using her personality he built a very friendly and relaxed rapport with the table.

The two children can be quite 'fussy' eaters and without us asking we were offered possible changes to suit them. My own changes were accommodated without question too.

The food arrived with very generous portions sizes. The homemade chips where crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle The Coleslaw was really good and home made I assume. A real homemade, individual steak pie that was covered in pastry. The onion rings where crispy and freshly made so not soggy at all and I assume the beer batter is what made them a darker colour. I really enjoyed them. The burgers were succulent, juicy and assumed homemade. I enjoyed the gherkins and thinly cut tomato's in the burger The person who ate Hunters Chicken said it was one of the best meals she has ever eaten out.

We mostly didn't finish so we didn't want dessert but the kids meals came with them. The ice cream cone was upside down on a really tiny plate which I haven't seen before but was a really cleaver way to present it. It was also on a larger plate with a small bag of unexpected sweeties. The other pudding was a brownie and custard. We asked for the custard separate to suit the fussy tendencies which was no problem. She really did enjoy the brownie.

Once home we all agreed it was the best pub food experience we have had. One of my party is from London and eats out a lot too.

Another member of my party hates to eat out but he is very happy to go again.

I cannot recommend this place enough we had a superb time!

Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and that our custom was a pleasure and not just 'another' table. As an ex waitress I understand and...

In the middle of nowhere but so worth a visit. A friend booked a table on Thursday. Steak night! I love steak!! Deal was, 2 rump steak and a bottle of wine for £25. Can pay £4 extra per person for sirloin ( or is that the other way around??) Anyway, asked for rare, exactly what I got and how i like it. It was lovely! Came with onion rings, not oversized. The most amazing thick chips in a side basket. Not piled high and filling the plate may I add. It was the perfect portion size. Portobello mushroom and a tomato, finished with a side salad and dressing. I was full and declined dessert... foolish move! My OH had the pie and custard and our friend had the cheesecake... the thickest cheesecake I'd ever seen and the pie...... You can tell so much care and love went in to these homemade desserts.. the table next to us had 2 others. I have no idea what they were though decided there and then, that I was definitely coming back even if it was just to eat the puddings. Service was great. Think the owners take pride in everything and play a very active role which is great to see..Taking/delivering food/ drinks orders and generally interacting with all who came though their doors. Laughing and joking. We spent a few hours here. Nothing was rushed and even though there was a big table for a birthday party, ( around 15) nothing was to much trouble. We had a wonderful time. Gutted I didn't take any pictures but I just wanted to dig in as soon as my plate hit...
