New landlord and landlady are absolutely diabolical. Actively do not want to interact with their customers (the landlord actually told me he was too busy to stop and chat: note - never be too busy for your customers, especially in a small village pub), which is utterly bizarre, and even the staff think they are odd in the way they are running the place. What a chequered history this strange pub has had, but the new management will no doubt start complaining when the locals - and there is only one pub in the village! - start abandoning them. Bring back Wendy!!! It is also worth mentioning how tatty, dated and rundown this place is, with whoever owns it clearly unwilling to invest anything in it. There are many beautifully-appointed pubs in the area - The George Inn, Maulden, The White Hart, Flitton, and The Compasses, Greenfield, to name but three - which show up The Star & Garter further. Given the historical significance of Silsoe - the home of English Heritage's Wrest Park - and the absence of a restaurant in the village, this pub should be an absolute goldmine from the...

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. The decor and friendly staff create the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal or a quiet drink.
The drinks menu is just as impressive, featuring a well-curated selection of ales, wines, and spirits. The pub clearly takes pride in serving quality drinks.

The staff go above and beyond to make sure every guest is looked after, adding a personal touch that makes the experience even more special. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick pint or settling in for an evening with friends and family, this pub never disappoints.
If you’re looking for a cosy, welcoming spot with fantastic food and drink, The Star and Garter is a must-visit. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. Highly...
Read moreCame here for a couple of drinks and a couple of bowls of chips (which were nice) after a walk around Wrest Park. The bar and seating area inside the pub is nice and clean, and there is seating outside too. The pub is dog friendly which is a bonus. Not the first time we have been, although I believe there are new management now. Bit confusing as we got our drinks and sat down, went back to the bar and had to enquire about whether food was available as there was no real indication it was. No menu's at the bar or at the table. Which I thought was a little strange. The guy serving behind the bar wasn't the happiest chap either, but minimal interaction other than ordering. So I'll still rate the pub...
