Lovely quaint place tucked away, full of oak and modern features it certainly looks the part. The butcher servery and choosing your steak is a great niche concept that works well and the steaks were absolutely divine, with only 1 out of the 6 being slightly over cooked. The adult female member of staff behind the bar was brilliant and we enjoyed her conversation.
However there were a couple of disappointing things that stood out, the focus is very heavy on the steak side of the dining experience this does leave the 'normal meals' although high with expectation severely underwhelming the sweet potato curry was served with microwave rice which was all stuck together and could be picked up in one. Not good considering the cost. The second thing is the professionalism of the waitress staff we had a couple of issues, Glass of tap water was requested and never received. There was a very long delay between receiving the dessert menu and someone coming and asking if we wanted anything (we ended up calling someone over) and finally when re-silvering for the puddings the fresh cutlery was sort of slumped on the table and not nicely on the folded napkin which was right there. Subtle things make a big difference when trying to achieve full remarks which the price point certainly reflects.
Hopefully this feedback will be taken well and after upon. We look forward to...
Read moreWe have visited before when staying at mountain edge (pre covid) and we really enjoyed our meal at the station. When we ate hear the 2st time you would go up to the "butcher" and could see the produces and they would cut to your liked thickness weigh and add to the bill. We was so looking forward to returning but unfortunately we was very underwhelmed. The starter where great we had the salt and Peper ribs and pawns. When our mains arrived they was of poor quality my pork chop was dry, the buttered carrorts where just boild no butter or seasoning and poorly prepared, the peas and Carrots hadn't been strained properly leaving a pool of water on my plate mixing with the sauce. While eating my side of Dauphinoise potatoes there was a few under cooked slices. I left most of the meat and tried to just eat the plain boil veg. My partner had the surf and turf his steak wasn't cooked how he asked and the meat itself was stringy and chewy. The pawns where placed on top which is fine but they was smothered in garlic which then sat on yhe steak. The Diane sauce was also very bland. Again he left half of his steak and tried to eat the sides The restaurant was basically empty when we arrived the staff was friendly. We didn't mention anything while eating as we don't like to make people feel uncomfortable but we was very disappointed about the quality of food and...
Read moreA really lovely place, first impressions of the exterior were great, looked like a very inviting and warm place. Greeted on arrival and we were shown to our table (we’d made a booking). We went through to the first area of the dining room which had lovely decor, roof windows, big glass front, traditional beams and the butchers counter.
Food came promptly, we ordered a fish and chips for the two kids to share (the portion was massive and plenty enough that neither of them finished their half), the pork chop and the 12oz rib eye added on 5 king prawns in garlic butter that were amazing and a side of onion rings. The food was cooked wonderfully, and had a lovely char grilled texture and flavour on both the steak and pork. We decided to have desert even though we were all full, the kids had 3 scoops of ice-cream each, the wife ordered the crème brûlée which she said was excellent and I had the sticky toffee pudding with custard, I don’t know where they got it from, bought or home made but I swear that was the best STP I have ever eaten in my life.
I would absolutely recommend the Station Inn for food or just a drink, when I’m in the area again I will 100%...
