If I could of given zero stars, I would have. An absolute shambles from start to finish. We arrived a few minutes before our booking, only to be told our table wasn't ready. Fair enough, so we sat outside for 10 minutes until it was ready. We then got called inside to be sat at a table right against a wall, no where near 1M or 2M social distancing from other diners. We then received our drinks order, for 2 of our groups drinks to be missing. Ok, we took that in our stride and brushed it off. We then ordered our food and carried on talking. 15 minutes later, the waitress comes back to the table to tell us a meal that 2 of our party had ordered wasn't available. Not sure why it took them 15 minutes to come tell us. Once they had reordered, it then took another 20 minutes to arrive. This time, 1 meal was missing from the order (even though the full order was read back to us at the time of placing it as was our drinks order earlier), and were told it would be another 8 minutes. At this point I had gotten so frustrated that I asked to speak to a manager or landlord. Upon venting my frustrations, all I was told/asked was "what do you want me to do about it?". Being 8 months pregnant, I decided it wasn't worth the stress and just gave up complaining. When we received our bill at the end, the missing meal had been taken off to their credit. But it definitely was the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. This was the first time I've been out for a meal since before Covid, and if this is how it is now I'd rather not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe, that is my wife and I, have just eaten at The Sun Inn and to say that the whole experience was less than satisfactory is being kind! It didnāt help being told on arrival that we hadnāt booked and only when we insisted that we had, were we told āhe must have forgotten to write it downā. Due to Covid, the main restaurant was closed and we were seated with half a dozen other tables in an unwelcoming extension. We both ordered roast pork and I can quite honestly say it was probably the worst āpub roastā I have ever had! The potatoes were burnt but so hot internally, they must have been microwaved and the āroast porkā looked (and tasted) like something out of a packet... thinly-sliced reconstituted meat - and the slices were circular! According to the waitress, it was āguaranteed to be freshly roastedā and was circular because they āsliced it [themselves]ā.... Yeah... and I was born yesterday!! To cap it off, they also are not part of the āEat out to help outā campaign and I was charged nearly Ā£30 for the two ādinnersā, plus one glass of wine and a Coke. Needless to say, we will not be eating...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited here for an early dinner, we had a price is wight/wightfibre deal...i must say the food was absolutely lovely, a great attention to detail with every dish, the portions were fantastic and each meal was full of flavour. Its definitely 10/10 for food... The staff were all very friendly and this made the whole experience an excellent all round visit so i would give them 10/10 as well. My own personal take on the venue, the dining area could do with more character, im not going to say modernising as its an old country pub, it just felt like things were missing, shelve above stairs down to lower dining-empty, a curtain pole without curtains and personally id change all tables to match to give it a more dining area feel. The establishment is lovely and clean and im sure the owners will put there personal stamp on it....from us its a massive well done, i would strongly reccomend anyone to visit here day or night.....we definitely...
