Ordered Bacon Brie and cranberry open sandwich on hambles bloomer bread with a rocket salad. Got a slice of Hovis bread, cold bacon, luke warm cranberry. Pea shoot mixed v tired salad. Drinks were supposed to be brought to the table. We had to fetch our drinks after 15 mins because the girl had to go fetch some white hovis bread from the local shop. No one came over and advised this, I overheard the chef come tell them no white bread. I sent the food back asking for hot bacon and melted cheese, as it's difficult to eat. They rudely came back out the bacon in 2 slices of Hovis bread and cranberry sauce on the side. How would you feel? Disappointed at £19 spend. Won't be returning. Strongly suggest you take a leaf out of our local pub. The Royal oak Auburn. That a real Bacon Brie and cranberry sandwich. With chips and salad.for...

Recently visited the Sun Inn after being highly recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint and we will definitely be back. A charming thatched country pub with stone flag flooring, you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. The food was delicious, well presented, fresh and plentiful, washed down with real ale (a great pint of Everards Tiger) and wine from a fantastic wine menu. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and easy to get on with and helped us make the difficult choice of which dessert to have, there were too many we wanted and we never usually have desserts but we’d already seen what was being served and that made up our minds!!! A little gem of a pub that we cannot...

Great little pub, which was recommended to us by a local. Originally we were going to eat in Exton but due to Extonbury, the pub was closed. Glad that we took the recommendation for The Sun Inn. The food was delicious and service excellent. We were asjed about allegines befire we ordered, always a goid sign that they care. Our men had sausage and mash with resh veg which they said was delicious, 3 sausages plenty of veg and perfect mash. Also provided with an extra jug of gravy which was very appreciated. My friend and I shared a camenbert starter along with sweet potato fries, more than enough for us. Unusual decor too. We really enjoyed our lunch, thank you to the friendly,...

Popped in here on a visit to Rutland because it is a place we used to frequent back in the old days (1988 to 91). It was the first place my wife worked after we got married and it brought back brilliant memories. The pub itself has had a few modifications but it's still the Sun Inn of old at heart with all the character and welcoming atmosphere. Didn't try the food but by the looks of it, it did look lovely.

Lovely pub in Cottesmore. Had a v pleasant meal. The landlord was v helpful and looked after us and our large dog. V nice steak and ale pie with mash and my wife had v good vegetarian option. Would have given 5 but had to wait a while for the bill and which was provided to us in 2 parts and was all a bit of a mess with the girl behind the bar. That said definitely worth visiting if in Cottesmore
