Having seen some of the other reviews, I can only wonder whether we visited on the wrong day. This was one of the worst Sunday lunches I've had in the area within the last 10 years. We came as a large family group. I ordered roast beef. The beef was like leather and the gravy had a consistency of something akin to jelly. Astonishingly it was presented without a Yorkshire pudding. When I asked why, we were given an apology and told that "the chef didn't come from the area". Yes, well; enough said. I wish I'd asked where exactly the person responsible for the kitchen did hail from; a chef not being able to mix together eggs, flour and milk does not bode well for a restaurant. My nephew ordered lasagne which bizarrely came with chilli beef (including the kidney beans) rather than the traditional ragu/bolognese filling. My mum ordered a Caesar salad which came with 'charcoal' chicken but no dressing. Exactly what was Caesar about it was anyone's guess. My brother also ordered a salad, which was fine i.e. fresh, but very bland. No dressing was offered. And to cap it all off, we were there for 3 hours in total. We didn't even have dessert. We won't be returning anytime soon to eat despite having recently moved back to the area. It's a real shame because I used to frequent this pub regularly 10 or so years ago. The landlord/manager needs to be more hands on to ensure that the quality of the product being served is up to standard. He was nowhere to be seen today. It...
Read morePopped in with the better half to grab a drink and a bite to eat they had run out of Sunday dinners but honestly we didn't mind it was our first visit there wasn't a lot of tables but the lady behind the bar quickly seated us and sorted our drinks order in record time.
We was handed our menus when the drinks were brought to us there wasn't a massive choice which to be honest was a relief I hate having to spend an hour trying to choose from 17 different starter and about 30 meal choices.
We both went for the swan Inn tower burger probably not the best choice as we had to walk home and it was so big well worth the money for locally supplied fresh food it may seem expensive at nearly £15 each but honestly it was worth it a very nice burger.
It consisted of 2 premium homemade burgers, cheese, 8 rashers of bacon, hash brown and BBQ sauce with a decent amount of fries a side salad and coleslaw.
In total 2 meals plus 3 pints of soft drink £37.20 which for those and the hospitality we received was worth every penny it does state on the menu that food can take a little longer than most places during busy times which was nice better than asking to see how long its going to be and less hassle for the staff will definitely go back in the future
And in hopes they also read this I want to say thank you to the staff at the swan Inn your amazing at...
