What a Joy! A beautiful spacious proper country pub! We had promised ourselves that we would visit the Swan after hearing last year that it had changed hands but only managed to get there yesterday. Marbury has a lovely traditional 2 day village show every year in May called Marbury Merry Days and that is normally the only time we go there. We just happened to be doing one of our Sunday wanderings yesterday just driving around taking in the beauty of a sunny early Spring day when we found ourselves very close to Marbury. So we headed to the Swan! It had a very familiar feel as the decor was totally Brunning & Price style as in the Dysart Arms Bunbury, The Combermere Burley Dam The Cross Foxes at Overton etc. We found out that this was in fact a "Brunning"pub! B&M sold out to the Restaurant group and Jerry Brunning carried on his dream and concept in his own string of pubs I think starting with this one. If you like B&M pubs you will love this one! The food is excellent and the selection wines and beers are superb. Much, much better than B&M now! This is a return to what must have been Mr Brunning's original vision. Quirky original miss-matched tables and chairs wooden flooring lots of space and a warm welcoming atmosphere, totally relaxing and comfortable, with the very best food and and service. I could keep writing much more but I won't. Just go and enjoy the Swan yourself and...
Read moreMy friend and I went for Sunday lunch 9/6/19. We had a delightful lunch however the experience was marred by an over enthusiastic waitress. While we were eating lunch she whisked away my friends drink while passing by. My friend noted what had taken place but because there wasn't much left she decided to let it go. A little later the same thing happened to me and admittedly again there wasn't more than a couple of mouthfuls left nevertheless I hadn't finished. I called out to her without success. I followed her to the bar and saw her tipping the remaining contents of my drink down the sink. I explained to her what had happened and she flatly denied there was anything left in my glass. I know there was and repeated myself. The waitress stated twice more there was nothing in my glass with all the customers at the bar to see, and although I was embarrassed I was also outraged to be spoken to as if I had lied. She said she could pour me another drink but insinuated it had to be paid for. I told her I didn't want another whole drink just the amount she had thrown away. She then went off to the kitchen leaving me standing at the bar with no explanation. After a few minutes she returned without communicating and poured a small drink and handed it over to me. I felt humiliated and upset that I was treated in such a way and will not be...
Read moregdg40 Reviewed 2 days ago Terrible, not value for money not as described and very minute portion My partner and i visited the Swan, had been there a few times, as a vegetarian i always seem to have the same meal as not much choice, usually the goats cheese bon bons , the portion isnt much but tastes ok, anyway went last night and they had a cheese and leek turnover, i asked what this was, the waitress said its pastry with leeks and cheese inside, i opted for that with a portion of chips which are 4.50 extra, the meal came, apart from the fact the dish was full of mushroom which i dont eat, and i would not have ordered if the menu or waitress had stated mushroom, the turnover was, and im not making this up, about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide, 1 inch high, as a main meal, this was appalling , not as described and definitely not worth the amount they wanted to charge, i made a complaint , i dont eat mushrooms so that should be detailed on the menu and by the waitress when i asked her, i advised i wasnt going to pay and thankfully they did not argue this, i ended up with my side chips as my meal, before this we thought about taking a group there for a birthday meal but we wont be going again and would not recommend the...
