I was very disappointed with the nachos I ordered, I ordered it with chill con carne, the chilli con carne was pretty non existent, the chillies, salad, glucumole, sour cream and tomato dip were ice cold, and the melted cheese was cold. I expressed my disappointment to the barmaid about the small amount, but she gave some excuse about why they only serve so little chilli con carne with the nachos, which didn't cut it for me. There should be some wording on the menu making the customer aware, I think this is a little deceitful and misleading the customer, because if you order something extra, you should get something extra, but in this instance if I had of known this beforehand that the extra accompaniment, being the amount of chilli con carne was going to be so paltry, I really wouldn't of bothered, there must of been 2-3 table spoons of chilli con carne maximum, with the nachos. The reason that I gave a 2 star rating was because the other staff members were very nice and pleasant, otherwise you'd of had a no star rating from me. Is this small serving of chilli con carne with nachos, standard with all Ember Inns, or was I just the unlucky one ?
Thank you for your response to my complaint about the small amount of chilli con carne that was served as a paid extra with the nachos to share that I ordered, when I visited your pub the other day. It was the sort of response I half expected from you, judging by your attitude the night I complained to you. I would like to mention that at no point that night or in my review did I mention to you, that I expected a bowl of chill con carne to be served as an accompaniment to my nachos, what I did say was I thought the amount of chilli con carne that was served as an extra with our nachos was a very small amount, about 2-3 table spoons. I commend you on your memory in your response, in your mention you was glad that my disappointment didn't deter me from ordering haddock and chips afterwards. I don't see what relevance this has about my complaint, about the small amount of chilli con carne that was served with our nachos I really don't. This is just as irrelevant as your mention about it being a Saturday night and there isn't a set menu on a Saturday night and this issue as you stated has nothing to with the paltry serving of our ordered chilli con carne as an accompaniment with our shared nachos we ordered. I would be ashamed if I had to serve that starter meal to a paying customer, I personally wouldn't insult the customer by doing so, it's shameful. The haddock and chips I ordered after our nachos to share, was for my partner, because as mentioned in my review, I wasn't happy with the salad, chillies and sauces, they weren't just cold, but were ice cold. I also mentioned in my review that the cheese sauce that comes with the nachos was cold, that is supposed to be served warm. This put me off ordering anymore food for myself that night. Just a mention, my partner was feeling quite ill that night, I hope it wasn't down to something she ate at your pub that night. You never did answer my question in my review, whether the small amount amount of chilli con carne that is served as an ordered extra in your pub is the same standard sized small amount, that you'd expect in all...
Read moreTables very wobbly etc sat at 2 different tables and they both were really wobbly but as in a group couldn't sit at a smaller table so had to make do. The food was nice and came to the table quick but policies such as blue light we were advised at the till that they would take off the bill at the end only to find out this was only Monday to Friday when paying the bill at the end. The gentleman who served us was fine and he actually apologised about being incorrect regarding blue light but the female staff member who I think was the manager was very short and abrupt, overall the food is worth it but the soft drinks taste flat as ever and the service was so different from the members of staff one was welcoming, apologetic with a mistake in policy etc and the other was short and abrupt. This experience has made me think twice about returning, shame as it was nice atmosphere with family's etc but a bit of attitude this changed my opinion! Maybe the manager should learn from the rest of her staff and remember customer service is everything!
Response to the comment below I appreciate that we should have checked the app but shouldn't have been told it was allowed by your staff member who are your sole responsibility to make sure they give out the correct info to customers, you've taken opportunity to blame the customer but I'm free to hold my hands up and say I should have read the terms and conditions but what excuses your bad customer service and not making sure staff know these terms and...
Read moreExcellent food. Absolutely lovely interior when we visited just after Christmas, bar staff are lovely, will definitely dine here again 5*
EDIT
Visited last night with my young daughter, having booked a table via their website ( I needn't have done that as the establishment was very quiet, Sunday 7.30pm).
You have to enter your registration number into their machine if driving and parking in the car park. The maximum stay is 2 hours.
Tried to use the app for food and got tied up in so many knots. I went to the bar, where the lady was trying to explain to me about the QR code from the app and my bank card, it wasn't her fault I hadn't a clue what was going on. All I do know is the tab came to around £48 for 3 drinks and 3 meals.
The meals weren't of a sufficient standard for the price paid. Not one of us enjoyed our meals. And we won't be returning to this pub for food (although shout out to the lady behind the bar for trying her best and having her hands tied by the corporate bosses above her when told the food was awful, she was extremely polite and pleasant).
It's a shame chains such as this one are taking over. Would've been easier to stay in and order a takeaway. And the standard of food would have been better too.
There is no point in launching a new menu if you can't provide what's...
