We have just had a fantastic holiday in Westmorland and were lucky enough to stay in the delightful village of Great Asby. One of the highlights has to be The Three Greyhounds pub. It is a wonderful pub, set in a beautiful location, but there are so many other positives: A loved pub: it's incredibly well looked after, a spotless and nicely decorated pub. Friendly atmosphere: everyone from the locals to the bar staff are really welcoming. Excellent beer: well kept and really tasty local ales, my favourite being Raudr, a red Ruby beer from Ormside, only a few miles down the road. Great food: we ate there on a number of evenings and everything we tried was excellent, well cooked and good quality. Dog friendly: particularly friendly for dogs, our little furry friend made lots of other friends and often rewarded with doggy treats from the bar. We were really sad to leave The Three Greyhounds and would have loved to have brought the pub with us back down to Devon. No problems..... arrived to meet a friend who was there first and the bar maid said no it's booked for 7pm.... but the kitchen is busy ( a few tables full in the bar that was it) so we will get you in inbetween 7 and half past.... again no problem.we sat down with menus at 7.30.....8.10 before our order was taken....... food came out and it was a nice meal..... although no body came over until we were nearly finished to ask if every thing was ok. Seriously lacking training on the waiting on staff and the bar staff. All in all the food and...

This is a very welcoming establishment, the gentleman behind the bar was incredibly attentive, efficient, charming and warm (in manner I didn't actually embrace him) the menu is short and to the point, it's about pub food and that's what I like in a pub, it's not pretending to be a Michelin star restaurant. The price structure reflects the quality of the food and I didn't feel like I'd overpaid for what we had, it felt incredibly fair. The pudding was incredibly generous, sticky toffee pudding, the only choice when in the Lake District they really know how to knock out a sticky toffee pudding here. The dog was made to feel very welcome and not a hinderance at all which is nice because he...
