This pub is in a fantastic location and, especially in the summer, a great place to relax. Sat outside on the canal there’s a constant stream of barges passing using the locks and there nearby scenery is nice for a walk and to admire too. Unfortunately though the service in the pub itself lets the whole experience down. Ordering drinks from behind the bar was exceptionally slow. It wasn’t overly busy but there was only a single member of staff working, pouring one drink at a time, stopping to chat with colleagues in between, getting involved in food orders for the restaurant and not being able to operate the till. Pints were also filled no where near the top of glasses. It was bad enough to actually put us off ordering a second drink. The toilets are very nice, everywhere is clean and it’s brilliant to see a bar with such an extensive range of soft drinks. We had reserved a table for late lunch / early dinner on the Sunday afternoon and our experience failed to recover. We ordered off the menu and then around twenty minutes later were advised that a number of the dishes we’d picked weren’t available. The main dishes eventually arrived over an hour later. The potatoes were clearly frozen and there wasn’t enough gravy provided with the roasts. The rest of the dish was cooked well though and tasty. The deserts also took forever to arrive, despite being cold items. Cheesecake came with ice cream, but the ball had melted by the time it arrived. We ordered two cheeseboards which were very inconsistent - no grapes on one, some slices tiny and not as well presented as others we’d seen previously during the visit. We felt compelled to say something at the end of the visit and did get a good apology but for the prices charged I doubt we’ll be rushing back.

I went to a taproom in Camden, but not that one. Instead I opted for the independent @3locksbeer and I wasn't disappointed. As many good taprooms are, this one is located in a railway arch. At the heart of the bustle of Camden, it's a great place to stop and relax with a beer. I was there on a rainy bank holiday day so plenty of folk were taking shelter - tourists and locals alike. Some were having a game of Settlers, others taking a break from seeing the sights with their children. There was even someone else making social media content. With upstairs, downstairs and outdoor seating you can choose your position to survey either the world going by or the goings on in the brewery itself. I opted for upstairs where a range of different seating types gave me the opportunity to get my laptop out to finish off preparing a presentation. A decent range of beers and styles is on offer, all from the brewery itself. I opted for their pale ale - a citrus one with a hint of orange peel bitterness - and the excellent Hefeweizen which has all those banana esters you look for in the style. And if you've got room in your bag, there's a great range of cans and merch to buy and takeaway with you. Next time you're in Camden, or close by, take a detour down Water Lane and grab a beer or two - you won't regret it. 3 Locks Brewing Company taproom is open every day of the week too, so there's no excuse really! And remember: support local! support indy!

Very cozy pub right next to the canal. We went through the locks and moored the boat nearby. Being vegan, we expected to be faced with the same frozen veg patty everyone seems to have, but couldn't have been more wrong! They have a number of freshly-made vegan options that all sounded delicious. We started with red pepper hummus with warm flat bread, which was fresh and tasty. We had the vegan pot pies, which were delicious, with a crispy freshly-baked crust. They came with some of the best chips we've had in months, and a side of green beans, broccoli, and peas, and a pot of gravy. They offer intriguing sounding vegan deserts as well, but we were both stuffed, so maybe another time. Everyone working there was pleasant, and seemed to be genuinely happy. I heard my praise for the food immediately passed along to the chef, which was gratifying. The server was friendly, attentive, and helpfully recommended the pie when told we were vegan. On the way out, I spoke to a very cordial gentleman who I assume was the manager, and told him how much we appreciated the vegan selections, and how good everything was. I'm posting photos of their current menu, along with their extraordinary holiday menus (including lots of good vegan options for all the courses!). Highly recommended, by a couple of damp, cold boaters in out of the rain!

This would be a 1-star review had management not been so understanding once they finally acknowledged our issue: We ordered around 1445 on the app (COVID requirement) and had an estimated 40min wait for food. The app has a limited version of the menu and no way to comment on requested changes to items or report allergies. We found a server, added the instructions to our meal in the POS system and sat down. All fairly pleasant where staff were involved, but the app is terrible and glitchy. Drinks arrived promptly Around 1500 the manager said they had suspended the use of the app due to the kitchen being overwhelmed, but that orders would be filled from the app if they had already been submitted. 1545 no food, no server, no manager. We found a server and asked about our order and got a new drink as 3 of 4 glasses on the table were empty. Server says he will check on the food. 1610ish no update. We find a different server and ask again. 1625 ish food arrives. Two items requested with "no sauces or veg, just the meat and bun" smothered in sauce with veg. Items sent back.1630 manager arrives with incorrect item and the rest of our order. He explains it will be 20min to get new items so we should eat them as is so we don't wsit even longer. Our daughter reluctantly agrees to eat something she is clearly not enjoying, but our son truly does not like the coverings. As for the other two meals, the 3rd meal was perfect, 4th meal did not exist and had been lost from the order. 1650ish two remaining meals arrive. One is perfect, the other is , once again, wrong and now covered in cheese which is another deal breaker. We explain it to the manager who Apologies and refunds our entire food order as my wife eats her meal quickly, my son eats chips from all or plates and has to wait until we get home for more food and we finally leave very frustrated

The atmosphereisnice and there isa lot of outdoorseating, but the staff was completely overwhelmed and unable to communicate the problems with guests. Several tables around us had similar problems, but felt they had no recourse since the app requires payment before an order is placed. We listened to the frustration as we watched tables who arrived after us, but were lucky enough to order in person off of the full menu receive their food well before those of us who, unfortunately, arrived in time to have to...

THE VENUE: The ambience was very good and the interior is old English mixed with a few modern touches. There is a welcoming log burner as you walk in.

We did not sit in the bar area but I did notice on my way to the bathroom a dog was present. So a dog friendly environment in the bar area.

There is free parking available.

THE STAFF: Very keen, polite and professional. Just the correct amount of attention so you can enjoy your food in relative peace.

The Chef was engaging and very keen to discuss how we felt and if we had any productive criticism. We had no criticism of the food.

THE FOOD.

OK, I had the Fillet beef and my partner had the Salmon. Portion was adequate. The taste of my stake was really AMAZING. I could taste the beef and it was cooked medium rare. Not as pink as I like it but I finished it because it tasted really great! It practically melted in my mouth. Had crushed baby potatoes which was an interesting twist of the boring spud. It was full of herbs that made the spud come to life. Now the peppercorn sauce was my favourite because it had real peppercorns in it which I absolutely insist on everywhere I go. So good job guys.

The vegetables was well cooked. Aldenté as it should be.

We also had pumpkin soup which was served hot and tasted very good. Just spicy enough for you to still taste the flavour of the pumpkin. It came 2 slices of sourdough bread which was good enough.

My partner had salmon. As you can see from the pictures the portion was generous and he reports it tasted moist and tasty!

We didn't need any condiments to whence the meal so that was a good thing.

I would recommend coming to eat at this restaurant for as long as it maintains this standard of dining.

We left full and content.

Book a table as soon...
