Arrived last night to three magpies pub in view of few drinks, food and a night or 2 camping there was 4 of us and 2 tents. We live local and a couple of friends was joining us as over from hong Kong and touring the southwest . We had a drink and decided to set up camp on the site behind the pub and paid our fees behind the bar, We drove into the site and set up both dome tents on far side as was fairly busy in the first field I needed a shower so headed off to a very grotty toilet block and tried to shower to find no water so got dress to investigate to find out u need to get cards for £1🤤 ! Why didn't anyone tell us been booking?😲? Three trips to and fro later to pub as cards didn't work I had my shower 😒 We decided to eat at our tents in the end as we couldn't be bothered to go to pub. About 2000 this woman came marching towards us waving her arms saying NO NO NO She was saying we was not allowed in this field as she only had a 28day licence to use this field and we Shouldve booked in beforehand then carried on berating us for not parking in first field, we tried to explain that we did go to pub and the young woman behind the counter didn't tell us to only park in first field . She then told us to move our tents and started to shoo us off by clapping her hands as if she was herding sheep, we was totally shocked by the way she behaved we both work in the pub and leisure industry and could not believe how a ladylady of the pub can treat paying guests. We had a look on trip advisor to find plenty of bad reviews for...
Read moreWe were camping in nearby Steeple Ashton and not in the campsite behind the pub. The last day of our camping was raining so we decided to treat ourselves to a pub dinner. We chose the 3 magpies because we visited it a previous year after one of our canal walks and seem to recall the food was good.
On this occassion we had a fantastic meal, the only downside being they couldn't seat all of our party together but that was understandable because we were a party of 13 persons. We opted for mains and puddings and i there wasn't any complaints about the food.
The staff were very pleasant especially our waitress who was very well informed about which dishes were vegan friendly which really impressed my daughter who is normally limited on what she can eat in pubs.
I think the only gripe a couple members of our party had was the cabbage which went with the Sunday roast contained raisins. I thought it added a lovely twist to the dish, but it's obviously not everybodies cup of tea 😊
Thank you for a lovely meal and a...
Read moreI went to the 3 magpies ph for Sunday roast on 4th December 2022 with 2 other members of my family. We were greeted by friendly and polite members of staff then shown to our table. We ordered our food and waited about about 20 minutes for our food to arrive. I was surprised to find that I we had 5 pieces of runner beans and a sprout that was cut into 2 pieces and a very chewy piece of Yorkshire pudding each on our plates. Clearly a lack of vegetables with our meal, so I was glad I ordered some cauliflower cheese for us all. Everything on the plate was Luke warm, nothing was hot when it arrived so I ordered some extra gravy. When the gravy arrived there a thin layer of skin on the top indicating that it was Luke warm. My family and I were very disappointed because the pub wasn’t busy and there was reason or excuse to why our food was Luke warm, nothing we ordered was hot. Our experience was very disappointing, expensive and not worth returning. We’ve had a better meal at the...
