Best Sunday lunch in the area! Four of us went for lunch on sunday 29th September and it was absolutely delicious. The pub is warm, welcoming, friendly and has been renovated to a very high standard. The food is well presented, excellent quality and plentiful. Extra veg and extra gravy come as standard, but are by no means standard. The food is prepared, cooked and served with care, attention and a lot of thought. You can really tell the chef is very skilled and has a lot of pride in his meals. Excellent value for money in my opinion. They allow dogs downstairs and with underfloor heating ours was happy to sleep on the warm carpeted floor! Updated to say the Sunday dinner we had recently was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent, and we were checked on a few times despite being upstairs on our own. The beef was pink and tender and there was loads of fresh vegetables. We loved the savoy cabbage with cream and bacon and the roasted carrots. Yorkshire puddings was big and not burnt like alot of local pubs. Did not get any weird looks when we requested extra gravy and even the horse radish was super tasty. We will definitely return. We popped in on our way back from Richmond as the Traveler's Rest has recently become a community. The welcome was lovely and we were delighted to see how well the pub had been revamped, with a beautiful outside garden to the rear. We had a drink then noticed the Sunday lunches that other customers were eating and it looked wonderful so we decided to give it a try. The food was excellent and very very tasty, best we have had for sometime and the staff were lovely also. We would recommend this pub very highly and will be returning with our wider family
