Sadly an awful experience today.

Booked a table for my 30th meal with friends and family. 10 of us and a baby in total.

At first I tried to order a cocktail to be told they don't offer cocktails...! Ended up ordering a lemonade on my own birthday due to lack of choice.

The food was okay but Yorkshire puddings like bricks, asked for extra gravy when the meal arrived, nothing brought to the table. Husband asked for tartar sauce, this arrived slowly and after over half the food was consumed.

3 kids burgers ordered 2 with cheese and 1 normal burger. All 3 brought to us with cheese. This was eventually taken off the bill at the end after a fresh burger was made however this didn't arrive until 1 hour 20 into our meal. 1 kids burger meal was to have sweet potato fries, these were shown on the bill at the end but never provided despite asking the waitress for a replacement.

Even just asking for mayonnaise or ketchup took a very long time to arrive.

The food was okay, didn't taste fresh, and service very slow. Not at all what we'd expected from a very empty pub restaurant!

When asking for further drinks these were slow at arrive or didn't arrive at all. Personally, I had to ask for a lemonade 3 times before I received my drink order.

At least this provided some entertainment as we started to laugh at how bad the service was.

When the bill arrived we'd been over charged for drinks we'd requested and not received along with drinks we'd not even ordered. The lady serving us stated that she'd remove the wrong items from our bill as if she was doing us a favor not charging us for something we'd not requested/ ordered.

Sadly this is my local and I'll not be back in a hurry. I now understand why it was so empty.

Save yourself money and hassle by popping to the fabulous Glen a few doors down, ordering a nice drink...

Upon visiting the Travellers rest today (not for the first time) I found myseft utterly disappointed with the service after making a reservation earlier in the day for my family and family up from manchester (as we had told them how good food is ) we arrived promptly at 5pm as arrranged and upon being seated and drinks order taken it took over 15 mins to receive them this is when there was only about 12 customers in the pub. Food orders were then taken and the food was fine other than pigs in blankets having to be sent back to be cooked as they arrrived distinctly undercooked, extras requested multiple times were not given to the point I had to get up find staff while our food was geting cold and expess some urgency to the matter. Now after finishing our main course and waiting again for table to be cleared (bearing in mind no one had been to see if everthing was ok or if we needed any more drinks etc) I found myself having to go and find staff and didnt have to go far as I found the Manager(David I think) standing at the bar and after expressing my disgust was met with a blank vacant expression with no apologies, I returned to my table where someone came and cleared our plates and took desert orders which arrived and were fine. Now I belive in praise when due and have always expressed my satisfaction on previous visits but today I was disgusted with the lack of service when the pub was not busy and was offered anything in way to make up for this. And dont think this is about wanting a discount or free food I am more than happy to pay the bill but I’m affraid the management has gone severly downhill here Very...

Decided to call into The travellers rest we arrived at approx 8.00pm we were taken to table and a member of staff had taken our drinks order, approx 15 minutes later we still had not been approached to place food order, the girl eventually arrived and asked what we would like i pointed to the ciabatta with beef in gravy plus fries x 2, we waited and then another girl came and asked if we wanted to place our order i told her we had already placed order for two ciabattas with the other girl, our meal eventually arrived by a young man he had two flanked beef with veggies and mash, he came and said this is what id ordered i said it was two beef ciabattas with fries, i decided to pop to bar as it seemed to be causing allot of confusion me ordering two ciabattas with fries, the manager stepped in well i assume it was the manager he apologised and said they would get it sorted, by then i was feeling like i wanted to leave, the manager ordered us what i had initially requested so we had a further wait, i have to say the beef was amazing but the whole experience had left me feeling very upset, we finished our meal, we left to pay at the bar and the girl who attended to us left us standing there and said can you wait a second the original girl who had made the error said £7.50 and they were not charging for meals as it was a miss communication between us both, i said it was not a miss communication by me you clearly did not look at my finger pointing to the ciabatta plus fries. We wont be going back...

When coming in we were welcomed by a young man who showed us our table, brought the menus and ordered our drinks. All going well. When ordering food i asked if the parmo hsd bechamel sauce, was told it did. I ordered a coke when ordering, I had to remind them when the food came that I ordered a coke. The parmo came.... well it waa actually a piece if chicken they use in the chicken burger with a sprinkle of cheese. I went up to complain and ordered a cheese burger instead. It was as if they didn't dare come over, didn't take the parmo away or anything cheese burger came, still nothing. Asked for the bill, paid and left. Didn't charge me for the parmo fair enough, but the fact the avoided the table at all cost and only said sorry as we walked out the door. Chef needs to learn what a parmo is or take it off the menu !

We often come to the quiz on a Tues which is entertaining! Managed to win a £25 voucher so Fri saw us here for a meal. They have lots of different theme nights eg Italian night where u get 3 courses for £9.99 (I think ) we decided to just have main and were pleased we did as portions are huge. Lovely lasagne with salad and garlic bread but couldn't manage bread. Daz had pie with chips andveg and also couldn't finish but said it was good. They do 0 % Guinness as he was driving and I had g & t so we had to pay about £11 for bill. Big place with outdoor seating, decent size car park and lovely friendly staff

I’ve been here numerous times for the Sunday roast. I’d avoid the chicken as it’s dry but the feather blade beef is unreal. What had brought me to leave a 5* review is the Monday night Ā£11 for 3 course Italian. You couldn’t buy the ingredients for that!! It’s amazing price in today’s economy. I’d say it’s a menu you have to know to get an amazing meal for Ā£11. The bruchette and potato skins starters are amazing. For the main I’d stick to pasta and avoid the pizza and bolognaise. The desert is a coffee or ice cream. The pastas are delicious and the chef special Cajun chicken pasta is amazing.
