Desire to check this place out after reading reviews. Thought pub was shut but parked up in small layby opposite and knocked on door. Made very welcome by owner Neil, a really genuine bloke with an affable character. Place is a time warp from way bygone era ! Good beer and my wife had a wonderful glass of wine. Recommend if in or near area to pop in, you shouldn't be dissapointed after having a chat with friendly, characterful landlord with immense knowledge...

Six of us stopped here this Saturday gone on a long walk from Askrigg... what a bizarre pub! Christmas decorations up and a lamb sat by the fire! What an outstanding place! As authentic as you can not expect of most pubs nowadays. This pub is a true time capsule and shows its history in really all aspects. The last changes might have been done 30 years ago. Ralph, the landlord, is a truly nice person. Very welcoming, of a very special character. The last night was great....
