Food - forgot water order, hard to get attention due to a party - got it myself after 25 mins from the bar. Drink heavy on small cube ice and watered down very quickly.

This was a Friday night. We just ordered a Main. The kindest description would be adequate- we both ordered the short rib and for me it was slightly tougher than expected. Not so much fall apart as can I have a steak knife please. My wife had to leave half of hers as it was all gristle and the knife couldn’t cut through it.

Mashed potato didn’t have a hint of any smoke to them. Sauces a little oily. Green Beans cooked by someone who hates vegetables and had attempted to boil them to death first before letting them spend minimum time in the pan with onions and garlic. Much the same with the tempura corn, overcooked to death. The Baby sweetcorn had been boiled to an inch of its life and then battered. Like eating damp cardboard in a batter that was more grease than fluffy and crunchy.

Street corn was nice but only 2 and a half 2cm squares of it. Score - about 2 out of 5. Not inedible, but very little ability from the chef. I’d be as impressed with a McDonalds - after I’d found out that they had a broken milkshake machine and didn’t server chicken selects.

The tomato salad was interesting. I had expected multiple tomato colours. Instead we got a minimal amount of coriander and pickled onion with two tomatoes of the same type chopped up. Less a salad and more here are two chopped tomatoes I’ve thrown a very small and insignificant garnish on.

Allergy card very good idea. No bread to tide you over. Dish serve time from order about 30 mins. Cost £90 for two mains, an OJ, an old fashioned, 3 sides, two sauces. Value...

The food is absolutely incredible! We are all well travelled and have been very well fed in our time in some of the world’s best restaurants, and so we had decent expectations when coming to The View, a rosetted restaurant.

To be honest when I arrived I thought the decor was lacklustre and the menu sounded like a country pub tick list, but don’t judge a book by its cover! It’s so much more! The quality of the ingredients and the skill and care in the cookery made everything shine through with complete, exquisite excellence. In particular the steak quality and cookery, and the desserts. All to die for! I also enjoyed that on what sounded as something fairly simple on the menu was executed to perfection with classic cookery, but then there would be a little pop of a flavour detail and/or technique that could have come from one of the top restaurants in London, that just added that bit of sparkle to elevate and make it special.

The service is a little eccentric but on the other hand very charming and polite! The View is everything you would expect from a top quality, locally sourced, comfortable, countryside culinary experience. Perfect as a mid-week treat or as a relaxed haunt at the weekend. Definitely...

My visit was fairly poor for the money paid. Service was very slow even though the restaurant was fairly quiet. we were left waiting a while to be seated and had to stand to get waitresses attention numerous times during our meal, at least two members of staff just stood chatting at the bar polishing glasses. Food was ok but certainly not worth the price paid, steak seemed very cheap and small. A gratuity of £13 was just added without being asked and had I of noticed it before paying I certainly would have asked for it to be removed as I would not tip for service as poor. For the £144 we spent I expected a higher standard of food and service. The veiw is beautiful and the restaurant itself is very nicely done, however unfortunately I won't be returning due to the poor service, tip being added without being asked and...

The food was amazing, we had afternoon tea for two and a free glass of fizz which was amazing !! I do wish they had spent a bit more time in the savoury aspect but that’s just a personal preference. The only negative is at the end we had to go up to the bar to pay, they gave us the machine and no bill, then a receipt when we had already paid to see they had added a service charge without us asking ! I do tip when the service is good however it wasn’t the best here, no checkbacks completed, no one asked if we wanted any more drinks, staff were all huddled around the bar chatting. I don’t mind this, the food made up for it, but was a bit of a pisstake seeing the extra £10 out on without our permission.

We really enjoyed our lunch here in the gorgeous English scenery. We had the ‘light lunch specials’ and the main course was really wonderful and filling but the deserts were very small, dainty and largely disappointing! Our ‘Eton mess’ seemed to be deconstructed and pokey and the pavlova was a bit of a joke if you ask me. Although, on the whole we enjoyed our experience with the attentive and lovely staff, great mains and excellent setting!
