The Village Cafe — Restaurant in England

I have just visited this establishment and was far from impressed, first impressions were not great as the table we were given was full of cutlery and assorted items, along with this it was by the the classroom of which the door was open at all times which didn't make a good site, behind the bar was piled with clutter which looked awful.The owner persisted in calling all customers my lovely, which is just too over familiar. The back door which was by the kitchen was left open, which meant anything could wander in which is not good for hygiene, it the fact which offended me the most is I ordered tea and jam with my tea, I understand restaurants etc need to make a profit but to be given one piece of toast and then be charged £1.50 for this was a total insult. My husband’s grandmother had asked if we could visit this charming cafe in East Coker as a friend had recommended it. Prior our visit I called to ask about parking and and opening times. The lady who I spoke to was so very helpful and offered to reserve a table for us. We managed to go today and it was a most pleasant experience. Our walking group came here for lunch. The steak, chips and salad I ordered was served promptly. The steak was tender and had a lovely flavour.
