Raby castle ground itself is a beautiful location; the cafe on appearance seems very welcoming and fitting in it’s surroundings. However arriving at approximately 10:45 am and wanting to order a breakfast panini from the ‘served all day’ breakfast menu; we were told this wasn’t possible as the chef was doing the ‘prep’. When next we asked it in that case we could order a bacon sandwich (described on the menu as so) but add a fried egg they explained they’d have to ask the chef it that was ok, being that they’d started their ‘prep’ . The waitress left us feeling as though we were difficult customers, when I would say a fried egg is hardly a big ask. We were eventually told it was possible to have a fried egg in the bacon sandwich. I had ordered the ‘Scottish smoked salmon and scrambled egg on a toast bagel’, when this arrived is was clear the egg was over cooked and instead of being on a bagel it was presented on a toasted muffin. When I addressed this the waitress simply said ‘oh I’ll tell him’ I imagine him being the chef, but no alternative or discount was offered. Had I known this would happen I would have perhaps changed my order. Overall it was very disappointing experience. Perhaps the managers should have a look at Bradley Gardens in Northumberland, a very well run cafe with excellent food...

I really feel The Yurt’ cafe really needs to up its game. Firstly, on arrival the food on offer no way resembled the menu featured online. When I asked the staff about hot food, it was a cold, wet miserable day, I was told the menu next to the till was ‘ hot food’ There was nothing substantial on offer, all on bread of some kind. I ordered two ham and pease pudding stotties. Both arrive cold, I was then told they could heat the filling in the microwave!!! I think that was rather ambitious as the filling in the very thick bread rolls had been scrapped on and off. I then changed mine for the parsnip soup which was very thin and watery. The hot drinks were served in take a way cups and the cold in very small, thin plastic cups. I wouldn’t advise a visit to ‘ The Yurt’ it is overpriced and very poor. I certainly won’t ...

It was full of wasps when we went, but that wasn't influential on this review, we spent an arm and a leg on a couple of coffees and sausage sandwiches with sausages that were clearly left to sit in a hotplate, dry with tough skin. Probably the most expensive place I've eaten in a long time for below average food. Don't be fooled, it's just a tent rammed with as many tables and chairs as physically possible and no real kitchen. I don't know how they've managed to glorify this yurt, but they've only put it there because they're doing work on the stables.

It's the equivalent of someone closing a decent restaurant to do some work on it and opening a breakfast van outside, but with the spin if putting it inside a tent.

I should add, most of these high rating reviews are about the castle and not so much...

First time visit after a recommendation from a friend, and I must say it didn't disappoint, the eating area was huge and not crammed together so you can talk very easily without raising your voice, the staff greeted us when we walked in and the fantastic hospitality continued, from the door to the servery and on..... The food was of a great quality very tasty and well presented, we also took out a pork pie and sausage roll which we enjoyed later on, The place is clean and the tables are cleared as soon as you finish. The toilets were clean and very modern all in all a 10/ 10, when we left we had a walk around the grounds they are beautiful, also there is a outside van to buy coffee which is a nice touch. We are looking forward to visiting again.

We visited The Vinery Restaurant at Raby Castle for Sunday dinner and absolutely loved it. The food was beautifully presented – so nice it almost felt wrong to eat it! Everything was tasty and cooked to perfection, from the roast meat and vegetables to the Yorkshire pudding. We also enjoyed a pot of lemon & ginger tea, which was the perfect addition to the meal. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A wonderful spot for a Sunday meal – highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Visited the market at Raby Castle on a bank holiday and as the mobile van was not open, we decided to buy our take away coffee and tea here before we got our breakfast from Crepe Expectations. While the cafe and food looked very good we felt that the drinks were expensive. Nearly £4 for a tea is quite dear for a tea bag, hot water and milk. The prices shown are member prices. We preferred the drinks from the van just outside so can't really recommend
