Sadly, we had quite a disappointing meal here over the weekend and it's a real shame to see as the food used to be great at the pub. Whilst I can appreciate that there were 7 of us (and a child), the food was slow and the pub wasn't busy. What's more disappointing is that all of the pizzas were wrong and came with ingredients that we didn't ask for - the menu stated aubergine on one and the other two we asked for it to be added, but all of the pizzas came with courgettes instead. I did raise this with one of the team and she did state that she had put it on the ticket and offered us another. As we had already waited sometime, we just ate it. Sadly as you can see from my photos my pizza was quite burnt underneath. I'm not opposed to a bit of colour under the dough, but that's burnt. To really add to it, I can see from our receipt that we charged for the wrong ingredients on our bill. Real shame

What a desperately horrid experience. We had a 14.15 reservation and had arrived a few minutes early. The main course didn’t arrive at our table until 15.49 (yes, by this point I was timing it as I couldn’t believe how slow the service was), over an hour and a half after our reservation time. The person that was masquerading as a manager explained they had a big party in. Well, don’t take our booking or gear up on staff. It is not an acceptable excuse to say you’ve got other customers. Two of our party had burgers that had been kept warm and were therefore dry. This was a minor issue compared to the ridiculous performance of the manager who continued to behave as though a speaking role in this tragic episode was not the best thing for him. I cannot believe this unpleasant experience us normal at The Walter Arms…they would be out of business soon if it were.

My partner and I came here in search of a beer garden. The beer (Moretti) I had was perfect. I think it was a new keg, but I’ve never tasted beer so pure and malty but not offensive. I ordered chips and halloumi fries. Chips was a decent sized portion, could have done with a squeeze bottle of ketchup opposed to the packets that fly off in the wind. Halloumi fries were good, though I think the portion size was a little stingy, sauce was nice

Shocking customer service ! I am not sure if we was just really unlucky or the guy working on Sunday evening was having a really bad day but I have never been made to feel more unwelcome than that when turning up to a restaurant for dinner and we eat out a lot! But never would I step foot in this place again and I will pass that message to anyone that asked me. This guy just not interested what so ever we asked for a table for 3 we had already called ahead and told they had room but he could not be arsed to make a table up and just pointed at a table in the waiting area of the Barn restaurant and said will that do !! We asked if we could sit in the restaurant as there was clearly plenty of tables free.... He did not look happy at all and he just pointed us to a table and sort of made the table up for us. After getting drinks (which mine was not even what I ordered ) We went to the carvery and got to say the food was almost as bad as his attitude ! Fatty beef under cooked roast potatoes cold carrots the worst pigs in blankets I have ever had !! And chewy Yorkshire pudding! I did not eat mine my partner and daughter was so hungry they put up with the joke of a excuse for a roast dinner soon as they had finished we went to bar to pay (I wish I had not payed at all ) This rude guy did not question the fact we had only been there 20 mins and leaving all ready and neither did he ask was everything ok with our food etc! I was now at boiling point but I manged to keep my cool but I did question him on why he had not asked how everything was with our visit and he just look at me then looked away and still said nothing that guy needs to get a different job he is not cut out for front of house and I told him so and still no comment from him! what a waste of my time and money never again will I go to that...

I haven't been here in a year or two, but upon my visit last night I have to say that the menu has taken a few steps backwards. Gone are the good pizzas, replaced by "flatbread" pizzas with limited topping choices, just 4 of the "pizzas". Mains have been extremely paired down to just a few choices...I seem to recall 6 or 8 options, all of them being very standard pub fare.

My wife & I ordered the cod & chips, and when it arrived the fish was noteworthy because it was the most dense, thick & heavy batter I have ever seen on any kind of food. While it was dry to the touch, the fish was so stiff & hard it made an audible thud when I whacked it against my plate, to the amusement of our friends who were thankful they didn't order the fish. Honestly I could have used it as a weapon! I wasn't really able to cut into it easily, having to use more force than should have been necessary. The fish was okay, but that batter was not. The chips were at least double cooked in oil, possibly even triple cooked, and they were pretty good.

My wife had a few glasses of wine, and I had 3 lemonades (well overpriced at £3.75 each!) and no dessert, and our bill with tip came to £80. For that kind of money, the food just isn't good enough, nor is it cooked well enough: one in our group ordered the steak (a sirloin) medium-rare, and it arrived well-done. He wasn't one to complain, but as it is the most expensive menu item, he should have complained.

I'm not sure what's going on at The Walter's Arms, but it isn't as good as it used to be and it is extremely overpriced for the level of food...

Oh dear, have just returned from the worst Sunday lunch experience ever. I have had many good meals here in the past so had no hesitation in booking Sunday lunch for 7 as a birthday treat. The table was a little late which is expected on a Sunday lunch time (2.30) so that's fine. We ordered our lunch and then after a while noticed that the two parties who arrived after us were happily tucking into their food whilst we were still waiting. So we pointed this out to the waitress who said the food was on its way. So we waited and still no food. We informed our waitress that we would wait a further 5mins then we would be gone and like magic the food appeared (the veg was sent back because it was cold). We asked to have a word with the Manager and the assistant Manager appeared who informed us that the other people had ordered food that was quicker to prepare and our lunch was held up because my son had ordered the ribbs. At no time did he apologise in fact he pointed out that we should expect to wait longer for a Sunday lunch. His people skills were none existent. Had he just said there had been an oversight over our order then we would have excepted that but he just made us feel that it was our fault for what we had ordered. I'm not in the habit of complaining but in this instant I feel justified in doing so. The food was very unexciting and the assistant managers attitude was very unprofessional . You just don't need that kind of stress when all you want is a nice Sunday Lunch. I dident want to give any stars at all but you cant post without giving at...
