Having had previous poor experiences at the venue some 5 years ago; I was hopeful to have a better experience. I arrived early for pre Christmas meal drinks with work colleagues. The bar tender told me they served cocktails so I asked for a straight forward gin martini with 3 olives. No problem I will bring it over. After a short time my colleague came back from the bar with a yellow looking cocktail with a raspberry in it. They told me this was my drink a French martini (Vodka , Pineapple juice etc). I went back to the bar and explained this was not what I had ordered. The bar tender told me he couldn't help me and I would have to speak to the manager. There was no apology just the response that I could only have a drink off the cocktails menu. I was asked if I would like another drink and I said a gin and tonic with one of their gins. This was unfortunately there last bottle and they didn't have enough gin to make the drink. At this point I thought i'd wait til the meal. The meal its self was a bit chaotic with veg coming out way to early before the Christmas meal and hence the veg was cold. The meal itself was ok but 1 tiny pigs in blanket it was a bit of lack lustre affair. The turkey its self was tasty. As the meal progressed we decided to do a round of shots to celebrate the unusual year its been. I ordered a shot of Sambuca. I didn't get it. I asked the same manager that took my order where my drink was and was told all the drinks has been bought out. well I didn't get mine. Again no apology ; no offer to get the drink. Please go anywhere else for your Christmas meal - this place really gives the impression it does care with its lack of hospitality

Setup as a premium pub and in some ways it is Its well furnished nothing it tired and it looks very good The cutlery was clean and so was the table What was disappointing was the premium gin experience - they don’t have a menu it’s from their tablet and they hadn’t paired their tonics Many moons ago when I worked in a pub we were absolutely told not to pour the tonic into the gin as not everyone wants all of it Having gone for a double I was very disappointed to see a glass chock full of ice and tonic and tasted of nothing To be fair it was replaced - but should it have been served that way at all ? We ordered food - registered an allergy - that was shown on the ticket. It was very disappointing that this was overlooked but spotted - no real apology - just a oh don’t you want that then I personally hate the put chips in things trend - but when you get only 13 chips and 4 of them are like the picture it was very disappointing. There was no atmosphere in the pub and for a quiet day the service wasn’t great

I read alot of mixed reviews but still wanted to check it out for ourselves, it was nearly empty when we arrived at lunch time, the welcome was good...our starters were prompt, great start. Unfortunately things seemed to go down from there....alot of Christmas bookings arrived and the attention was left off the rest of the other diners...we waited for 40mins for our main and that was after we had to remind a member of staff that we had been waiting a while...and our starter plates had not been cleared. I felt sorry for the old couple next to us as they got cold soup and they had to send it back...apart from that and my burnt dauphinois potatoes, the food was good. But as pointed out by some other reviews, it's clear there is a staffing/organisation/training issue and that might impact your experience.

First visit to the pub, we sat outside in the garden area which has plenty of space and seating, with and without umbrellas for those needing a touch of shade, food was tasty and an interesting variety on the menu, I wanted to try various options! Staff were friendly and the location is good with good parking too, value for money as well, its worth the price and its not too expensive.
