I first visited the Wellington Inn last year and thought I'd found a hidden gem. At that time the food and service were good and a great place for lunch before the drive home from Brimham Rocks.
We visited today and it was completely the opposite. On arrival we were ignored by a sour-faced woman (presumably management) who throughout our visit would make us feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. We were seated then no-one came to our table for about 10 minutes until a nice, younger waitress asked if anyone had taken a drinks order or have us menus - she was surprised and quickly got us sorted. After some time, the older lady came back to the table unenthused to take our order. I made a simple request if I could have a side of crackling on a chicken roast dinner as some pubs do. Instead of 'no' her response was 'you'd be stealing food from other people's plates'.... I said I wouldn't want to do that and said I would then have the pork roast.
The menu was very interesting although we wanted to leave by this point to just ordered a main. The food itself was between average and bland, underseasoned and lacking flavour. Portion size was generous.
We settled the bill with the younger, nicer waitress, used the restroom and left. As we got sorted at the car and ready to set off a man we had not been involved with during our experience came up to the car. I wound the window down to ask if everything was OK and he asked 'did you pay your bill?' I was astounded. Presumably he did not ask our waitress or seen the bill plate on the table. I nearly said to him I wish I hadn't paid sure to the massively poor experience and attitude of staff.
Absolutely diabolical experience. When I next visit Brimham Rocks I will not intend to visit here on the 1.5 hour journey - instead I will go to a pub...
Read moreCan't really say enough about the Wellington inn. I called up yesterday morning to reserve a table next to the fire for my girlfriend's birthday as a last minute thing. The staff on the phone was very polite and welcoming and that alone made me feel comfortable coming to eat and drink. We arrived after a nice drive throughout the the countryside. We arrived an hour and half early just for a few drinks and to relax and they let us have our table very early. The staff again are full of smiles and even bring your drinks over to the table for you which you don't normally get that type of service when you go to a nice pub establishment such as this. The interior is really nice and old, absolutely amazing. The toilets are clean to. There was a bit table of women having dinner together and we was keeping tabs on any complaints and the chef/chefs got everything right, not one mistake. The food menu is absolutely fantastic, nice choice of dishes. My girlfriend got the belly pork with mash instead of black pudding mash as she doesn't like it and we didn't get no weird response to her request, They just did it. I got the steak and black sheep brewery ale pie and wow it was beautiful. I personally would prefer puff pastry and so would my girlfriend but it was still lovely. Veg cooked perfectly! Decent amount of veg aswell, we had to order it separate to our meal but when the food is as nice as this we really don't mind paying. The mash patatoes were superb and the meat was so soft. Nice thick gravey. What a gem of a place. We have booked to come back after our walk on Saturday for a burger, see how they are!. You have a lovely establishment, amazing staff and brilliant food. Can't not complain about our experience one bit apart from the Bailey's is very...
Read moreWe have just returned from our stay at The Wellington Inn and cannot rate it highly enough. My husband and I, along with my parents stayed for two nights, and my grandparents joined us for the second night.
When you arrive the Inn is beautiful and set in a stunning rural location. Whilst phone signal in the general area could be iffy, we didnât have any issues at all whilst at the Inn and there was access to free WiFi as well.
As we entered, we were greeted by a lovely open fire (which we sat by for most of the evening!) and were quickly given keys to our rooms.
All the rooms were immaculate: beautifully decorated; soft, comfortable beds; complementary tea/coffee and toiletries; and well sized. Our room overlooked the car park, but my parentsâ and grandparentsâ rooms had stunning views of the hills and my grandparentsâ even had a balcony!
The food was delicious - we had breakfast and dinner there on both days - and the selection on the menu catered to all our tastes. We were lucky enough that on our first night they happened to have a weekly burger night on which was really good - both very tasty and value for money. The staff were very good to check things regarding my husbandâs mushroom allergy so as to avoid any contamination at all (weâve been to other places who havenât been as cautious which hasnât ended well!).
Overall, I would definitely recommend The Wellington Inn. Itâs location is stunning, the rooms are warm and comfortable, the food is excellent (both quality and quantity), and the staff are extremely efficient.
Thank you so much...
