Visited: 3/6/2017; revisited: 20/12/2017 HEADLINES Premises: good, unusual layout, not overly relaxing Staff: some good, polite Service: some good, others not so much Menu: range of different types Food: generally good but Christmas meal really below average DETAIL On the main back road between Clevedon and Portishead this pub offers food and refreshment in a very different style of premises. The main front part of the pub building offers tables to sit at, in a choice of 3 areas. Behind there is where it starts to get interesting. First off - there's a patisserie. Yep, really - this makes having a cake at the end of your birthday meal quite different! Next to, and behind the Patisserie is a small bar that serves an area that used to be a garden - is now a massive raised patio area. Opposite this is another pub novelty - a pizza bar - yes, complete with ovens! This and the bar tend to serve the raised wooden patio area. When we visited, the second two thirds of the area was cordoned off for a special event (another option for you here). An important difference at this pub: the raised decking patio is covered - with a yurt/teepee. One word of warning the car park is not massive but there is some local parking. The whole place was very clean. Some of the staff were all very welcoming, polite and efficient. The menu offered a reasonable range (pizzas are also available) and the choices are not bog standard pub food. For instance, Cod cake on bed of samphire with crab mayonnaise; an absolutely delicious combination but the Christmas meal failed to impress. Prices and portion sizes are in line with this sort of food-based pub. One personal benefit: the beer glass was a solid glass tankard - a real pint!

Disappointing. Restaurant prices for very standard (and undercooked) pub food. Steak ordered as medium rare and came out blue. Had to send it back twice. No table service, get your own cutlery and condiments (all in sachets including salt and pepper), no extra plates provided for sharing starter, wine glasses dirty, no steak knife provided, staff weren’t the friendliest. One of our starters didn’t come out. See picture of steak which wasn’t cooked enough ‘in my opinion’. Me and my friends were really excited to try this place but we definitely wouldn’t return.

No booking required so if your in the area and you fancy a roast this was excellent, staff were brilliant and the thatchers was on point 👏 Plenty of parking and we both had large roast dinners it’s not like your average pub that charges you a lot and doesn’t deliver, this roast dinner was plenty and it’s not often that I don’t finish a full roastie! Well done White Hart 👍

Really terrible and quite upsetting experience. I will certainly never be visiting again.

We’d been frequenting for this pub for a while. We attended on 02nd of this month on a hot summer’s day. We were there some time, (Approaching 4hrs) In the garden for much of this time. I was driving and did have four pints of weak lager over the duration, but ate and drank quite a bit of water too as it was a really hot day. Given the body loses around one unit of alcohol per hour (Without food or additional water) there’s no way I would have been over the limit by the time of leaving. I’m also 16 stone)

Anyway, when we came to leave we were packing our car and a member of the bar team came over and asked me how many drinks I’d had. I said 4, but over a pretty long period. The whole situation felt really weird. He was aggressive threatening he’d call the police if I got into the car. I told him to bugger off and drove home. Is we drove past we could see he was making a call, I’m guessing to the police.

A really upsetting experience.

I wrote to the company’s email address twice over a period of two weeks before sharing my our experience on here, assuming it may have just been an extremist employee. But after repeated chasing I didn’t receive a reply.

I could understand it if we were noticeably intoxicated, but it was pretty clear we weren’t.

A quiet couple of drinks with my daughter on a sunny day. Never again.

I really don’t think it’d be a good business initiative to allow customers to be stalked by overly opinionated employees.

To set this kind of precedent will make customers very nervous about visiting...

Visited on 02.06.16 Positive Very nice place, the gardens and restaurant were lovely and have been refurbished to a high standard with a lot of money spent by the current owner, food was also quite good.

Negative. The overall experience was poor Very small portions, and quite expensive Drinks, 1 pint of larger 1 pint of Thatchers cider and a double vodka and lemonade ÂŁ15.00 a portion of pork scratchings and some olives ÂŁ5.00

8 people 3 course meal with drinks ÂŁ292.00 (ÂŁ36.50 each person) Total cost for my party of 3 for the night ÂŁ137.00 (pricey for an upmarket pub meal). I could have accepted the price if the portions were of a reasonable size, I had tomato soup, Burger in a roll with a few chips, and cheeseboard to finish. 2 people had steak others had pizzas etc.

Service was slow (not particularly busy on a Thursday night)

For all the money that the owners have spent on the place what a shame that the staff were not particularly well turned out. One chap who was actually serving food to the tables was really scruffy with a baggy old roll neck sweater and looked a real mess. The head guy who I think was Spanish tried really hard and did a reasonable job but was let down by some of his staff, we had side dishes forgot and a wrong desert.

To build up regular customers they need to address all of the above, I wont be rushing to return to the restaurant as for the money you could find better, however I would return for just a drink in the...
