The White Hart is a real gem of a pub at the heart of the village of Chilsworthy. The building dates from the 1500's and retains much of its original character and charm. We drove up through Gunnislake to get there via a sat nav route that proved to be quite adventurous. Taking the longer route to approah from the west would definitely have been the better option. As holiday visitors we were warmly welcomed on arrival. It was a busy evening but service was efficient. We were quickly seated following a pleasant chat at the bar while our drinks were poured. There is an extensive menu of starters, mains and puddings. All homemade! As well as a specials board. We chose the goulash with herb dumplings and a lamb burger. Both proved delicious. As we paid our bill Amy chatted with us about our plans for the next day giving lots of ideas and local tips. When we left we walked further down the road to admire the spectacular view over the valley. I would highly recommend a visit to the White Hart. It would be a perfect stop on the Tamar Valley Discovery trail as well. Good value. Friendly service. Great food. All with an amazing view. What more could...

Read moreWhilst holidaying in Cornwall we had the good fortune to go to the white hart pub. Wednesday 28th September. Didnt book, just walked in on the off chance. We couldn't believe how busy it was for a mid week. I asked the waitress if they where doing food? She told me that the chef had called in sick and she would ask the landlady who was cooking if she could. Luckily she came back and said yes."Its going to be a bit of a wait but yes." I come from a little village in East Sussex called Rotherfield, when i was young the local pub, The George was the focal point of the village. Im not kidding, it was like being back there in The White Hart. The landlord Ian was so friendly, we where chatting with the locals like we where one of them. The food was delicious, a log fire blasting. All I can say is I wish I lived there!! It's like stepping back in time where people go out and socialise. Well done Ian and Katy you've cracked it. All the best Dave...
