Went here last night with my wife and parents. As you walk in it’s that cosy pub vibe with a fire going and lots of locals. At the bar you are greeted by friendly smiling staff. We were shown to our table. It’s a small place but it’s got a lovely homely pub feel like old school but modern. There is ample parking which is a big plus for me. Now onto the food. We had the sticky Asian chicken wings and spiced fried cauliflower to start. Both amazing! The wings were falling off the bone and sticky with a lovely Asian bbq coating and the spiced fried cauliflower was crispy and perfect. No grease or oil in sight. For mains we had the chicken burger, which was huge, the salmon Thai curry and the pies. The pies were the standout for me. Believe other reviews. Not thick pastry but a full traditional pie brimming with meat. Lovely sauce mash and even the vegetables tasted good. The staff are happy to accommodate alterations such as my dad had the chicken, bacon and leek pie and they were happy to swap the chips for mash. The puddings were all homemade we had the orange crème brûlée which was amazing with homemade, melt in the mouth shortbread. As well as the sticky toffee which was to die for like seriously good. We will be back and thank you to the staff who are a credit...

In this day and age country pubs can be a bit of a disappointment with that "you're not from round here" (best in a West Country accent) attitude.
The White Hart couldn't be further from this! The staff were immediately welcoming and the food was a great take on the usual suspects. Well cooked and tasty with a dash of their own originality.
The detailing around the pub was really well thought out with a warm and cosy feel - I am sure it us great in the midst of a dark winter Sunday. The toilets smelt great and were really clean - a big help when you have a 4 year old who will use any excuse to leave the table!
Kids were made very welcome and there was a genuine attitude from the staff who made every effort to accommodate - the menu has a blurb in it on exactly this point explaining what they are trying to deliver and deliver they certainly do!
The only genuine problem I found is that I don't live near enough to make it my local!
Thoroughly...
Read moreHaving just returned home after a 14 day touring holiday around the UK visiting many pubs and restaurants en route we decided that our best meal of the trip was at the White Hart. The food was delicious with a definite "home cooked" taste unlike the many places we tried with their Cash & Carry fayre or the brewery/chain supplied rubbish served in all their outlets from a central supplier. It is a clean, traditional UK Pub, obviously very family friendly (and animal too judging by the 2 dogs in at the time of our visit) with an large unpretentious fun play area for the kids. No sterile "Gastro Pub" atmosphere with architectural props from the auction house, poor staff training, and carboard food here, just a genuine local with good food, friendly efficient staff and a traditional pub atmosphere. We will return to support such a lovely family run business when in the area again (and of course enjoy...
