One star is far too much to be given. 15/05/2019
We arrived for a birthday treat, pre booked so no excuse. Firstly we were ignored as no table had been set aside. Everything on the menu re from 6pm onwards was 'Not available tonight ' even though it stated on the menu 6pm Onwards. Why ? because they didnt know why...... Special ? 'Not tonight' 'no specials being served tonight ' Why we asked again and they did not know ????
Drinks ordered.. 20 mins later still no drinks. Asked again and she said 'Oops sorry I have forgotten them, didn't the bar staff bring them over ?... errmmm Nope hence asking you again !! Food order, had to repeat 4+ times..them she went to go get her pen and pad... We again had to ask 40+ minutes later for starters, 2 prawn cocktails...!!!! Again we had to ask for main meals 25+ minutes later.... Saving grace the food was ok ! Been told there should have been complementary drinks for dinners that week and 10% off... No sight of any, still looking !!!
Dessert was a choice of 3 because of their mix up again. They were standard to say the least ! If you are on Slimming World have desert because of the size you will not use many syns...
Asked for Hot chocolate and was told 'Not tonight as I have not been trained on the machine'. Cold hot chocolate was served, asked for it to be warmed up, it came back Nuked. It could have taken the roof off the house never mind the mouth... ..
Its now 11pm well past our bedtimes, got the bill.. Full price ... The manager came over and asked us "Was everything to your satisfaction ?' We all replied in one shot 'No it was abysmal'. He opologised with we have just opened up, erm no you have had a refurbishment.. He replied we have gremlins in the system. We did not comment with what we thought as it would of offened him....
I have put a review on the Web site.. it appears to have been taken down and I have been blocked on faceache for just speaking the truth. We look back now and can only laugh at the £80+ we spent that evening on a Faulty Towers comedy night out. Think we must of missed John Cleese and Manuel somewhere from the kitchen to the dinning room. Will we try again ? Ermmmm...
Read moreOften pass this country pub and thought we must try sometime. Totally disappointed. Visited with my husband and son, we are a mixed race couple. Hadn’t booked so enquired if they had a table for 3 for an evening meal. Was directed to a high table in the corner of what seemed like the bar area (not familiar with the place so didn’t immediately realise that there was a more appropriate dining area). We were told that they would bring menus over to us. After 10 minutes we realised that locals were being served at the bar before us so my husband went to order drinks and the guy behind the bar sent a member of staff over to us. We ordered drinks and fish and chips for us and my son (who is deaf and has a Learning Disability) wanted to know what the chicken tikka platter consisted of. The disinterested member of staff replied that ‘he didn’t know’. I asked him if he could find out. Our drinks were bought to our table and we waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive. No explanation was given for the delay and my husband enquired as to how much longer we would have to wait. The reply from the disinterested member of staff was that they would be doing it now (nb the pub was quiet for a Saturday night). No further reassurances or communication was given by any staff during our wait. When the food arrived it appeared worth the wait. Unfortunately the ‘fish’ consisted of small pieces in a hugely inflated mound of batter! The fries were unpalatable. My son, however, enjoyed the small amount of chicken tikka. We were asked just after the food arrived if everything was ok but at this point we hadn’t had time to decide. We all left the majority of our meals and it was evident that we were dissatisfied. No attempt was made to clear our table or to ask if we would like dessert or coffees. I would have expected, at the point of paying, to be asked again if everything was ok, this was avoided. I just wanted to leave but on reflection felt that a dissatisfied review was deserved as there was no customer service...
Read more11 of us went to the White Hart for lunch on Saturday 21st December. The food, service and booking process were all excellent We pre-ordered our food via email, nearly all of us choosing from the festive menu. On arrival we were welcomed with smiles and directed to a table in the front room, there was one other large group in the room, also a family group. Our drinks orders were taken and drinks swiftly served. The starters were with us within 15 mins of sitting down. All the food was excellent, our group had chosen turkey, lamb, salmon, venison pie, steak and chicken nuggets! My lamb was beautiful, melt in the mouth tender, and the potato dauphinoise were to die for? All our food was served hot, quite a feat for 11 of us! We were not rushed, the waiting on staff were attentive but not intrusive. Puddings were beautiful. Our party tried Christmas puds, Sticky toffee puds, ice cream fun, baked alaska and cherry sundae, all delicious. Once we had finished our meal, again we were not rushed, the table was cleared and we were left to chat. I thoroughly enjoyed lunch, I can honestly say it was the best meal I've had out for a long while. Thank you to all the staff for making my families Christmas get...
